  1. Totally. Reminded me a lot of the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series tho. Monster is coming, get the giant robot to fight it with a special weapon, repeat, etc.
  2. Well gee, I never knew I could watch the entire run of the show so quickly. Thanks for telling me how it ends!
  3. Why don't you have health insurance? Aren't you the one who's been hit several times by cars or something? How much did you shell out for that?
  4. Do you feel like you have the right to drive uninsured?
  5. I have the first 3 seasons on a disc somewhere. I broke bad by obtaining them in that manner. Is this Walter White as ruthless as me in that regard? Will I have anything to learn?
  6. I knew I could count on you to deliver. Mind if I wear my Anal Leakage jersey while you do that?
  7. I liked it. The characters of course were awful, except for the comic relief duo (Loved the scene where the people in the shelter started pushing the one guy away from them), but the action was top notch and the effects were seamless brilliance. I also felt like the scene with the girl's dream with the monster was fairly horrific and well done. VERY few movies really put on a display like Pacific Rim did. In the Transformers movies, there was so much camera movement and 'glimpse' shots of the action that you don't see much at all, and the action is very short lived. In Pacific Rim however, the fights stay on camera for a good while, and there are not just one or two fights, but several times that, and they spend their time showing them, like bouts in a movie about boxing. The detail level was just incredible. Little stuff like how when the monster tosses the Jaeger onto the dock works, and upon sliding to a stop it just lightly taps a capstan on the dock. The Sfx guys spent the time to put that in. There were also no blatant pan and scan camera stunts, where the CGI guys like to show off their stuff by making the viewer watch some sort of presentation of a setting, etc. They focused on just showing the story as written and just putting every detail they could into it. I'm not sure who that team is, but they should use them on every film with any special effects laden story in all future films made by every director on every planet in the universe.
  8. You know Randomguy, if you weren't my friend, I don't think I could bear it.
  9. Just from the first episode, it was pretty clear he wasn't particularly law abiding. He starts out the first episode already on the edge as it were. There's no 'before' with the character.
  10. Why, because you already have insurance?
  11. There's just nothing appealing about doing a marathon. It's boring, you're only going 26 miles, you can't enjoy the scenery at all and stopping and restarting is even harder than it is via bike. Plus 26 miles more or less puts you at your extreme limit whereas a 'good run' can be usually less than 3 miles, if that. I got into shape pretty damn quickly just running about 2 miles a day. 5 miles would be pushing it. Biking has that element of 'driving' that you get like being able to descend a twisty turny road, or hitting a hard climb and just grinding it out or nuking it in the big ring. Running is just...running. Boooring.
  12. Perhaps a realistic documentary style drama about actual meth users and law enforcement, interspersed with an overall picture dramatic story from the political/governmental angles of how it affects society. Every episode would end with some brief profiles of actual good people out there working to stem the tide, and people who have come back from addiction. But what do I know.....

    Boot Camp

Used to be, I would always tell myself that I'd do Boot camp again because of the rewarding experience it was. Now, in my old codger days, I wouldn't even suggest someone join up.
  14. WTH is York Maine? Hmm, Chemistry teacher makes meth. Boring. I remember when the series started on TV, I kept thinking that every time I saw a commercial for it.
  15. I didn't make it through the first episode. I'm sure it's a great show, but the basic premise just didn't exactly pull me in.
  16. Do what everybody else does with their trainer.... loan it to somebody else, then when he returns it after having used it twice, sell it at a $100 loss.
  17. Did the 6 Gap Century ride in Dahlonega.
  18. I have a Fluid2, but I used it once last winter, and it's been on loan to a friend for the entire summer so he can warm up at Crit events. What I started doing was simply making sure I got outside to ride. I'd schedule myself to leave work a little early once a week to get in a ride. And after discovering how beneficial toe warmers are, I'm not as reticent to get out when it's cold either.
  19. The more expensive/special the stuff is, the more I'd need to try it on, and even use it to see if it really works for me. Especially bibs and Jerseys.
  20. Clif bars + Ziploc bags. I use them for wipes, my cell phone, and if there's a threat of rain, I'll carry one with a rubberband in it to cover my Garmin up if it starts pouring. My car has ziplocs all over the place. Even after I've gone through and cleaned it up, I'll find one stuck under a seat that I didn't see before.
  21. I wash them with unscented/free&clear detergent, along with all my other clothes.
  22. We were coming up with names for characters when playing Dungeons and Dragons, back in '80 or '81. One of us had the idea to reverse common names, so on that tangent I reversed my own name, and also a few other names that popped into my head, one of which was Han Solo. However, since 'Olos Nah' seemed a bit off, I added in an 'a' and it became 'Olas Nah'. Had a ring to it. Viking-ish, but also not. The character got killed before reaching 10th level (Fighter), but was revived as a mercenary type NPC (of a much higher level) that was a sortof benefactor to future dungeon parties we had. We were part of a rather large group of players in my area, and upon going to Gen-Con one year, I was directly asked if I had any good NPC characters, to which I provided Olas Nah. He was used by nearly every tournament in play that week in limited roles. It was kinda cool. Fast forward to the Internet age, and I recalled the name and figured it would make a good username for things.
  23. OMG, I was wondering for a long time what that 'Leeroy Jenkins' thing was I kept hearing in that show 'Inside Combat Rescue'. The air medics use it as their alert sound. Friggin hilarious.... having played WoW a little bit, gawd that was sooo typical.
