  1. I would say it's someone who rides and runs. Put swim fins on every other spoke and you have the perfect tri-bike for Parr8...
  2. With the tougher cuts of meat you need to cut your cubes or strips a little thinner in the cross grain direction. If you are using a lower fat cut of meat marinade it in the fridge overnight in a citrus juice of your choice or, if you don't want the citrus flavor in the meat, use papaya enzyme. It will break down the fibers without imparting much flavor of it's own.
  3. I'm going to go somewhere I've never been, claim it for myself, and kill off the people who already live there...
  4. I've used sesame seeds on a crust before. When I made a cheeseburger pizza, I brushed the edge of the crust with butter and sprinkled the seeds around it. They toasted up nicely as the crust baked.
  5. Ok DH, if you want to see real pizza, here's one of my beer crust pizzas: But we must give equal time to the zucchini crust: And the cauliflower crust:
  6. That's the biggest deal. if you take it off too early, it gets a little mushy. The weather will also have an effect. When it was rainy here, I had to use a little more flour to tighten up the mixture.
  7. So here's the deal with the veggie based crusts I've been working on lately. I've been going through some health issues and have been forced to change my diet. I now have to restrict sodium, fat and carbs... all of the things I love. I'm one of those people who doesn't just eat to live, I live to eat. I love cooking, I love eating and I love the the process of creating things in the kitchen that I, and others, will enjoy. Truth be told, I'm just as happy in a spice shop or kitchen store as I am in a bike shop. Turn me loose in a restaurant supply warehouse and I'm in heaven. I'm the guy that was working on perfecting a slew of beer based recipes, including a killer pizza crust. Many of the foods I crave are off the table (literally) for me now in their current forms. I have been trying to use my culinary skills to modify them into a form that closely approximates the original while meeting my dietary restrictions. It hasn't been an easy road, but it's one I have no choice but to travel. It doesn't mean I can never have a real pizza again, but it means that it will be the exception now, not the rule. I've shared my successes here because because I know there are others in similar situations. I know it's not for everyone, but hopefully others will see some benefit from it.
  8. The obvious queston is "Would Parr8 hit it?"

    Gas prices

The cheapest I got it for driving across the country this weekend was $2.93 in Oklahoma. We are around $3.15 here depending on where you get it.
  10. We went to a funeral in PA. Neither of us wanted to spend the time in airports and deal with rental cars so I just drove. It gave us time to talk and process emotions. Driving long distances has never been an issue for me. On the way there I did 22.5 hours the first day. I've driven 30+ before. My brother is wired the same, so was my father. I guess it's genetic...
  11. ... from Maryland. Drove 17 hours yesterday, 18 hours today. I'm sleeping in tomorrow.
  12. My sister in law's Uncle Homer (yes, that's his real name) says "You can't trust anything that bleeds for a week and doesn't die." Uncle Homer is the family philosopher...
  13. It was too easy. I had to go there.
  14. I'll bet you've had a lot of disappointments involving "the man in the boat"... B)
  15. Holy crap on a cracker! Not no, but HELL NO!!!
  16. I wouldn't worry about it. If my total cholesterol drops below 240 I feel anemic...
  17. Friday I drove 22.5 hours. Saturday I drove 10 hours. Sunday I drove the last 6 hours into my BIL's then got in a car with him and drove another 11 hours to pickup another relative. Today we drove another 2 hours and now we are going to the viewing. The funeral is tomorrow.
  18. That's awesome! Glad it came out good. I'd love a pizza right now. We just got into our hotel in Columbus and I'm hungry! About 6 more hours of driving tomorrow and we will be there.
  19. This is Mrs. UB -- we thank you for all of your heartfelt thoughts, condolences and prayers. We are a family of faith and appreciate every one of the prayers. He is at peace which is a comfort. Again, our thanks. Mrs. UB
  20. I'm not, but my wife is. Does that make a difference? True, if it's vintage Italian you measure to center of the top tube. You should also measure the top tube length from the center of the head tube to the center of the seat tube.
  21. KT is right. Middle of the cranks to the top of the seat tube. I'll be taking my laptop with me to PA so I will be in touch. Thanks...
  22. It's over... he has passed. Thank you all again for your support. Keep the prayers coming as we travel...
