  1. We used to make sun tea, but have not for a while here in Phoenix. In Minnesota we/I have a sun tea jar that I use most of the summer. I use Luzianne tea in it. Here in Phoenix I make iced tea with a Mr Coffee iced tea maker I got as a gift years ago. 4 Luzianne tea bags, and 10 packs of Equal . I do have some Earl Grey tea for occasional use, and some peppermint tea (courtesy of the Sunshine Committee).
  2. I drink 24 oz (4 6-oz cups, or whatever the number on the side of the coffee pot means) on days I brew it at home. I get a medium coffee at the bike ride coffee stop. I first drank coffee the day after I graduated from HS, May 1970. I didnt like cream in it, so I just added sugar. Could never get the right amount of sugar so I went to straight black coffee a year later. The only possible problem with black coffee is how hot it is. Too hot to drink quickly on a short bike ride coffee stop. Several years ago I tried a latte at the MSP airport, and discovered I liked that. I dont have them a lot, but every now and then I enjoy a latte.

  13. I heard (not substanciated) Jeff Lynne came up with the name, kind of. If something went wrong during the recording, he would say "we'll bury it". Not sure if that is true, but a good story nonetheless.

  18. 36 Years Ago This Week George Harrison Took The Word "Supergroup" To A Whole New Level : George Harrison Bob Dylan Roy Orbison Jeff Lynne Tom Petty Jim Keltner Now that's a lineup folks ! April 3, 1988. As George Harrison was enjoying the surprise success of his "Cloud Nine" album the record company decided to release another single to keep the momentum going. George decided to record a new song he had just written to be the B-Side of the song "This Is Love". The track would end up being called "Handle With Care", after George saw a box with that wording in Bob Dylan's garage. A song he needed to record quickly. Problem is he had no band, but one of the perks of being a former Beatle was that pretty much any musician would drop anything they were doing to work with them. He would first call his friend and producer at the time Jeff Lynne, who was working on a new album with Roy Orbison. Then George realized that he had left the guitar he wanted to use at Tom Petty's house, and once George picked up the guitar asked Tom to ride with him over to the studio (the most important car ride Petty ever took.) They would take a drive over to his longtime friend Bob Dylan's house to record the song in his studio. Bob too would end up joining in on the recording. Everyone showed up at Bob's house, recorded the song, and went their separate ways. Once George submitted the song to the record company they loved it so much, and refused to waste it as a B-Side. Asking George if he would mind recording nine more songs for an album, he said he would ask the others. Everyone agreed, and The Traveling Wilburys were officially born. The rest as they say was Rock And Roll History !
  19. I am seeing them more both here in Phoenix and in the Twin Cities . I see them as great options for commuting and running errands (providing you can secure them). My biggest concerns are 1) riders with questionable skills riding too fast, and 2) they are not getting the exercise they need.
  20. 4/9/24. 51.4 miles on the group ride this morning, windy miles
