  1. These two little boys were tossed over a fence into the yard of a vacant home. Their lucky day came when the owners checked on the house and were shocked to find the brothers there. They don't know how long the pups had been there but they were very thin, hungry, and covered in dirt and fleas. Fortunately their Guardian Angel agreed to foster them and so they are now cleaned up and living in a loving home. We will know more about their age and health after their vet exam this week. But our best guess is they are about 11-12 weeks old and Great Pyrenees mixes FOUND WASHED AND FED TIRED BOYS HAPPY BOYS
  2. Bashful "One Blue Eye Brooks" is looking for the perfect match. He's a deep thinker and will spend more time analyzing any scenario before jumping right in. He must have another dog in his forever home to show him that having fun can be FUN! Although, he's not too shy for kisses!
  3. My dog likes to play a game where I toss treats to her and she runs at a breakneck speed to get them. The first couple she chases down, pounces on, and the eats normally. However, as the fun amps up, she becomes progressively more fast at the consumption portion of the game. She is often back in motion looking for the next treat before she has finished swallowing the prior treat. Of course, this results in a choking fit that is familiar, I am sure, to members of the @Randomguy family every Thanksgiving. She has to stop her running, dislodge the treat, and start over. Luckily, as the game goes on, she also loses a bit of her pep, so the peak choking is mid-game, and tapers as she stops running around like a maniac. How about your pups? Are they nutters too?

  5. What better way to participate in Giving Day than by helping save some cute OOGS!!! DSDA were contacted a few days ago about two pups found abandoned in a culvert in a rural area near Kauffman. Their Guardian Angel reports that dogs are dumped out there "all the time" and she's constantly finding them and hoping to place them with organizations like ours. It's really heartbreaking to think these two 7 week old babies were left on purpose to suffer the elements of starvation, being eaten alive by wildlife or hit by an unsuspecting car passing by. "Autumn" and "Leif" are now safe and sound with DSDA. What makes this possible? Fosters who say "YES" and donors like you who help with their expenses until adopted. Please donate now so that we can continue to say "YES!" when our help is needed. It's easy to donate! Just visit: www.northtexasgivingday.org/DSDA to help us reach our goal of $40,000 this year! We were lucky this time that the puppies were found shortly after they were dumped as they appear healthy excepts for fleas and interested parasites. #northtexasgivingday2021 #NTGD2021 #dsdaleif #dsdaautumn

    My weekend

    Consists of constant this.
  10. Puppies grow faster than grandkids.
  11. I am off to take all four to a new building to practice. New pup doesn’t do agility but we cannot leave her home alone. That would be mean. Pictures to follow.
  12. I think the best way to celebrate National Oog day is by posting pics of your doggy friends in this thread for us all to celebrate! That, and by giving them extra pets and treats!
  13. I really prefer to be in my office but today my co-worker and I are home. We have an Airedale puppy arriving this morning for a two week stay. It is going to be hard to get any real work done. Meanwhile my co-worker is checking his email.
  14. You go swimming with dad to cool off.. You can go run in the park when it isn't so hot.

    MONTANA

    Montana had a pool day.
  16. James Crane worked on the 101st floor of Tower 1 of the World Trade Center ... He is blind so he has a golden retriever named Daisy. After the plane hit 20 stories below, James knew that he was doomed, so he let Daisy go, out of an act of love. She darted away into the darkened hallway. Choking on the fumes of the jet fuel and the smoke James was just waiting to die. About 30 minutes later, Daisy comes back along with James’ boss, Who Daisy just happened to pick up on floor 112 on her first run of the building, she leads James, James’ boss, and about 300 more people out of the doomed building. But she wasn’t through yet, she knew there were others who were trapped. So, highly against James’ wishes she ran back in the building. On her second run, she saved 392 lives. Again she went back in. During this run, the building collapses. James hears about this and falls on his knees into tears. Against all known odds, Daisy makes it out alive, but this time she is carried by a firefighter. “She led us right to the people, before she got injured” the fireman explained. Her final run saved another 273 lives. She suffered acute smoke inhalation, severe burns on all four paws, and a broken leg, but she saved 967 lives. Daisy is the first civilian Canine to win the Medal of Honor of New York City. Pass it on to all animal lovers.

    Happy Ending

Here is why I love being a foster for DSDA. Martha and I have had some of the mange dogs in our home after they were on the road to recovery. Here is a story of one such pup. We just had to share Jax (fka #dsdamrsnuggles) in his TUX at his parents' wedding last weekend! This gorgeous boy was one of three pups found 3 years ago (after being dumped in the woods near a lake) by a young lady who advocated for their rescue and was to become a DSDA volunteer. The unsocialized pups were covered in sarcoptic mange (the super itchy kind) and ringworm. But because we had an experienced foster willing to take them in and give them a chance we were able to accept the pups into our organization. Hence, #dsdajoey, #dsdamrsnuggles & #dsdagrace! All were nursed back to health and adopted into amazing families. We love it when we hear back from our adopters. Seeing Jax in his tuxedo & part of his parents' wedding is pretty special - especially since his transformation was so extreme. If you want to help turn a homeless pup's life around visit www.dsda.org/foster for more information!
