View the full article Sadly, I wonder if that was the propaganda of the time, and why it feels so awful to me as a quote from her can summon an image of the horror she (and Jews and others) faced during that time. She was far too young to "work" in our traditional sense, so I wonder what was the full meaning she was aiming for? No doubt the Nazis exploited this ethos. A corruption of the ideal would serve to encourage cooperation on both sides of the equation leading to the final solution.
