And so everyone wants govn't to be more efficient and have public do things digital.  So we got great systems for registering online and paying for recreation programs, trades' permits applications, yadddy dadadaa..  People do use the systems.  Still, some people still show up for front counter service for our staff to file for them.  That's ok too.  Their English may not very good, etc.

Our online vastly improved online system for property owners to file application and support docs. to contest their property taxes, was launched 3 yrs. ago. Just before covid. Thank goodness.

Well, full-time tax agents hired by big corporations for their property taxes for office bldgs...many bypass the system and just shoot off the pkg. to some generic email address.  Now it's extra time internally, to separate out and file the stuff manually in corner of repository. :huh:These are full-time, hired guns working for big corporations, whose job is solely dedicated to fill application forms, file and show up/represent their corporate client at appeals hearing.

The homeowner is exempt since they have to do this occasionally which can be tough because it's not something they do often at all. Or ever again.

Add a large processing fee to documents delivered to that generic email address.  Time is money, so make it their time or their money, not yours. :D

Or have the emails auto-reject the filing multiple times before you do it manually. That way they eventually see the path of least resistance is to use the actual system.

It is actually commercial property owners most of the time, that dispute property taxes.... not the homeowners. So homeowners shouldn't just howl to the rest of the world. They should do their research and file the application.   I am unsympathetic to the commercial property owners trying to dodge probably enough money. Especially the big boys.
