My riding miles summary

And because I like anal-izing things in Excel To me, riding 6000 miles a year is where my bar is set. It's a tough but doable goal. I have records back to 1992 which is when I graduated HS. I remember riding 3500 miles in 2000. That was a milestone for me The years between 2010-15, I worked a lot of overtime...a lot of overtime. I started riding w/ BCC in 2017. And 2019 was the felt-like-crap year because of the tumor and didn't think I'd break 1000 But I kicked ass in 2020

Most I hit in one year was 2017, 4,563 miles. Mrs Parsnip was living in OH and I was a bachelor in a one bedroom apartment near the bike trail. I enjoyed the freedom of that arrangement.

Yes, but from myself. I rode 280 consecutive days, which is a record itself that I will never attempt to top. From the day I had clearance to ride (Jan 21), thru Oct 28. Mostly outdoor, but some was on the trainer. The funny thing is, I never had  any goal that year other than to just ride. So I challenged myself w/ the "see how many days I can go" eventually giving up because of weather. But at that point who cares?   Not me. And in 2019 I told all my doctors that I rode 6000 miles last year. So it was nice to mention to my surgeons in 2021 that, oh I rode 7000 miles last year.  My one pulmonologist said "you rode 7000 miles after having part of a lung removed?" I said yes. He said "maybe I should have one removed"

My cardiologist said I was her inspiration after my heart fully healed after  my heart attacks and leukemia. I didn’t ride that many miles but I did ride 72 miles on my birthday. She is now a cyclist and rides every day.

Here's my bike miles since 1995. I try to get in at least 4,000 miles. 2006 was my best year. Last year wasn't all that good but I did 5 major vacations plus moved into a new house. I'm having a great year so far in 2024.
