I have known several Dems that have purposely voted on Republican side of the primary in an attempt to help sway the other party's election. I'm am sure it has happened the other way around in the past and am equally sure it will happen again on Tuesday. I’ve thought about voting in the other Party’s primary as a means of selecting a more moderate candidate for the General Election, although: A) I think my vote would be ineffective, as primary turnout is usually dominated by the fringe enthusiasts, and B.) I could be more effective voting for the moderate candidate in “my own*” party. *PA is a closed Party primary, so I have to “belong” to vote in a primary.
