Razors Edge ★ Posted December 4, 2021 Share #1 Posted December 4, 2021 Who is the most under-rated drummer? I'm going with Karen as I never even knew she was a percussionist!

Early in the Carpenter's appearances in public and on TV, Karen played drums while she sang. Probably can be seen on various YouTube videos.

Great voice, but no need to be a drummer too.
Longjohn ★ Posted December 4, 2021 Share #4 Posted December 4, 2021 I was never impressed with her drumming, it was mostly trying to show off. She was not that good. I never thought of Ringo as being under-rated. He was highly acclaimed among other drummers and band members. He didn’t try to show off but his drumming was fantastic and just what the band needed. Of course, I never saw how they made albums - ie did she do the drums for the albums? Did many songs actually have any "real" drum work? Or, was it more just for something she did on stage like some lead singers have a guitar they "play" while the real guitar guys are plugged in??? Ralphie ★ Posted December 4, 2021 Share #7 Posted December 4, 2021 Owl bet I am pretty typical of a non-drummer in that I barely notice drummers. But I do love me a good drum solo and such.

donkpow Posted December 4, 2021 Share #9 Posted December 4, 2021 It was a thing back then because most musician types were multi talented. If you wanted to enter into the arena, you needed something to appeal to listeners. Maybe younger listeners.
