    Would you?

I expect I might have to put a foot down a couple times but I'd absolutely love to try it. I really think I'd rather ride up that, than down.
  2. I grew up listening to my parents' Bill Cosby records. I can recite the entire "Revenge" monologue from memory. He's one of the funniest guys that ever lived. So I hate that his apparent years of depravity have tainted that body of work. It just doesn't seem as funny anymore. And yes, the linked clip is creepy at best.
  3. I'm not sure if it was Alzheimer's but both my grandmothers ended up with some sort of dementia and didn't seem to know who they were, or recognize family, at the end. My wife's grandmother had it and we're afraid we're starting to see signs of it in her own mother. My wife is scared.
  4. DOCTOR: I'm afraid I have some bad news for you.... you have cancer. OLD MAN: Oh my God, that's terrible! DOCTOR: You also have Alzheimer's. OLD MAN: Well, at least I don't have cancer!
  5. I know it's hard to see Stumpy go, when you shared so many schralpin' good times. Focus on the future, and the new bike. Meanwhile - it feels weird to say I have more functioning bicycles than DH!
  6. We'll be at my parents'. We generally do Thanksgiving with my parents (who always stay home); Easter with my wife's parents, and we alternate Christmases. We generally don't get any leftovers to bring home, so food-wise, Thanksgiving is a one-day thing and won't be a diet-killer even if when I gorge myself.
  7. It sure did. That sounds really great! Nice work!
  8. After 30-some years he was reunited with his long lost 3-humbucker Gibson.
  9. When you say "finger pick" do you just mean strumming without a pick, or do you get into picking with multiple fingers? I find that I can strum by bending my index finger forward against my thumb and playing with that nail, if I need to. Sometimes I do this if I'm playing a quieter section. I never learned how to use real "finger picks" though - for that it's just the fingers. I do OK with that until I try to do an alternating bass line with my thumb - that trips me up. My favorite song of all time is S&G's "The Boxer" and I've never managed to make that sound right.
  10. well, actually - no, I don't. How many more like "chess nuts boasting" and the ever popular "super calloused fragile mystic" can there be?!
  11. Unpaid? That's a shame. When I served I made $5 for the day. I've been summoned for jury duty four times. The last two I never ended up having to report, which was nice. The first time, I was picked for a jury that heard a civil case regarding a fender bender in a bank parking lot. Frankly I found it very interesting, and it was kind of nice how the judge held the jury in such high esteem. Made everyone in the courtroom stand while we filed in and out, thanking us for our service, etc. The other time I served I was nearly picked for a medical malpractice suit that they said could run 4-6 weeks. Thank goodness my wife had seen one of the doctors who would be a witness - conflict of interest, and I escaped.
  12. I like these. Alternating between standing on a big gear, and sitting and spinning in an easier one, keeps it a little more interesting. It also mimics my mechanics on a long climb. That's a place I really improved this season and I don't want to lose it.
  13. You have a right to be angry but at some point soon I hope you can let it go. Like Page said it's no good in the long term. Of course this is easy for me to say. You have been riding, yes? How has that been?
  14. I really thought I had heard all the "long-story-and-pun-punchline" jokes. That's a great one.
  15. sorry to hear that, DH. What's the status of the bike that was injured in the crash? and how are you feeling?
  16. My timing is just a little earlier, but I typically leave the house ~90 minutes after I get out of bed. The only thing I do the night before (if I remember) is set out work clothes the next day, so I can find them without turning the lights on (if my wife's still asleep). On a normal morning I get out of bed, empty the dishwasher, make a pot of coffee, get the paper, put out trash/recycling (if it's that kind of morning), shower, eat breakfast, make lunch, get the rabbit a snack and say goodbye to the kids who are usually still in bed. And if there's a load of laundry in the dryer (as was the case this morning) I'll fold that too.
  17. I don't think I will ever understand why this gentleman was famous. And screw it - it's schmaltzy and sappy but I love the song "Mandy".
  18. I had thought the resistance on mine was a little weak, which didn't surprise me since the trainer manufacturers might not design for Clydesdales' dead weight. But I realized that I can't get the chain onto the two smallest cogs in the back. I replaced the cables last year but never went back and readjusted. Fixing that might help me replicate the feel of standing on a really steep climb. Somehow this simple adjustment hasn't been a priority.
  19. This week I got a new PC at work. I was very happy to see that it's running Windows 7.
  20. happy birthday, jsharr! hope you stop in to see these.
