  1. I can't think of any Karens I know that fit the stereotype.
  2. The book under the pillow really works! I tried it once, and really learned a LOT without having to read a page while awake! It was a medical study called "disrupting sleep patterns by employing uncomfortable pillows"
  3. I've only had a vocado my whole life. The rest have been just fruits
  4. my vocation is husband and father. I've been at one job for 30+ years. the prior full time jobs were pretty much in the same work. Except for a year of sheet metal work, but that was just for beer money until I had to get serious
  5. Wow, Wilbur, that looks less than pleasant! Hope it heals up pretty quick! Dang, I got off easy, only 3 stitches! In and out of the Urgent Care place in an hour. Lucked out, the PA on duty is a Plastic Surgeon at her day job, saved me another trip.
  6. Ii dunno, maybe my brain is mixing up the great ones. I've been watching Gretzky for years but I still play hockey like Steven Hawking
  7. quick, put it on someone else's desk. Then ask if anyone has seen that part they wanted you to modify
  8. Dad's job is never done...........
  9. I do enjoy yard work. Enough that I was upset at the hour I had to stop to go get stitches. Wife wouldn't let me finish and wait for dark for the ER.
  10. We danced to "You can't always get what you want". There's a long and appropriate on so many levels reason, the folks who knew her as a toddler know. Her husband knows. Others, I'm sure were wondering. ironically, she married later, partly because she had some really focused ideas about who her perfect husband was. Then backed off that, and found the perfect guy for her. Pretty sure she hasn't noticed the irony still

    MIL Rant….

exactly. Wouldn't you WANT her to eat the most unhealthy diet possible?
  12. I'm still figuring out the parking at the new gym. I found a spot next to a curb, a bit away from the building. When I came back out, I noticed the very faded "SENIOR PARKING" on the ground at my space. "Oh, crap, now I'm in troub...... oh, DOUBLE crap, I'm actually allowed to park there now!"
  13. are we parking BMWs, ort are we only using one parking space? When I used to teach the safe driving class to our service guys, parking lot safety was first try to pull through, if not possible, back in. All parking has risk factors, those are less risk.
  14. I gave up on those feeders to attract hummingbirds. It's just way too much effort by the time you pick out the feathers and bones for such a tiny amount of meat
  15. I wouldn't till til you're ready to plant. Don't bother with the Miracle grow soil, just get bags of compost or manure. Spread that on top, then till, mixing it in. After a couple years amending the soil like that, you will not need to add compost every year, and definitely won't need the Fertilizer. It will be way better than the Miracle Grow soil could ever pretend to be. Also, ALWAYS plant a winter cover. Oats and peas is great. Keeps the weeds down. Mow it short, leave it there, put the compost on top. Make your own compost, better than store bought bags.
  16. I looked into that for our 40th anniversary. Nov/Oct is a good time, not too cold yet, but good chance at a show. I looked more at Iceland and Sweden for the spas. Many of them are a little south, but will run trips north to the arctic circle. If you're lucky, you can see lights from the saunas or pools. Check in advance on spa protocol, the kids might not be real comfortable sharing that space with you (are they of age?)
  17. And here I was complaining about just water falling from the sky! Taxes are done, IRS will withdraw my money sometime today, I think. Nothing planned tonight, I'll move some seedlings into bigger pots Tomorrow, Till gardens at my house and Jr. wife's house. I rented a rear tiller instead of using my front tiller so I can get it all done quicker. I will be opening new gardens in areas with a lot of roots. Party at the neighbor's Saturday night. Sunday, Mass, then transplant strawberries, then off to a piano recital, dinner, Show in the city.
  18. Considering that Auntie Annie's are fake pretzels, I wouldn't start decorating for pretzel day just yet
  19. good practice for his afterlife
  20. That seems like a LOT of work. And who will remember all those words. Why didn't they just use numbers, like an x and a y? They could establish a mean and just use degrees from that? Why has no one thought of this yet?
