  1. My Garmin Fenix 6 in titanium is a great watch. The way I have it set up I only need to charge the battery about once a week.
  2. I'd suggest a Garmin D2 Air X10 https://www.planeandpilotmag.com/news/the-latest/2022/04/08/garmin-d2-mach-1-aviator-watch-why-you-want-one/ Or.... https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/798926
  3. No. Not sure what it is... I did use the Google. I won't be using one.
  4. https://www.airforums.com/forums/f238/recommended-towing-speed-209639.html If you are concerned about gas mileage.... slower is better. Too slow is bad too. This info is about a car/truck without a trailer. https://www.mpgforspeed.com/ If you are concerned about safety.. slower is better. Too slow is bad too. Stopping a lot of weight takes a longer distance. Too slow and you f'up the traffic flow and even a old guy in a Prius will be passing you, and everyone else too. is it raining during your theoretical trip? You will need to get used to how fast (or not) you can slow and/or stop in different situations.
  5. OMG... these small cars have a LOT in common with a top fuel car. They both have way too much power vs traction, so you have a clutch designed to slip for the perfect run.
  6. Large sums of money and possible government corruption. How about the part where the buildings after the last big earthquake should have been earthquake resistant. But that didn't happen and in 2018 there was amnesty granted for the buildings. Urban planners have complained that rules have not been observed in earthquake zones and highlight a 2018 government amnesty that meant violations of the building code could be swept away with a fine, and left some six million buildings unchanged. link
  7. Great headphones.... or a 500 watt power amp with my old Cerwin-Vega speakers and you can hear the talking just fine. Sadly foam rot killed the speaker, but I found a place that can restore them. I still have the old pre amp and the power amp (below). They look like this, with the foam intact. Just a year or two ago... my daughter confessed... when WoBG and I would leave home and she was there... yeah she listed to music at near rock concert sound levels. The max output was 123db.
  8. I used headphones to listen to the vinyl records years ago. I noticed a faint talking over the beginning of the music on the first song and a more faint talking at the end of the last song. The phrase "Isn't this where we came in?" was split between the 2 songs. I recorded those 2 songs on my cassette deck, back to back, and the music and talking was indeed split between the 2 songs. That made the entire opera an 'endless loop' too. Not to many people ever noticed this. link Wall, The (Pink Floyd) Easter Egg - Where We Came In This is an easter egg that is split between two songs on the same double album. Listen very close to the very beginning of the first song on "The Wall" album and to the very end of the last song on the last album of the same set. In other words the begining of side 1 and the end of side 4. Just before the intro music you'll hear the faint words "...where we came in?" Then listen to the end of side 4. The same music is playing and the last thing you hear is the faint words "Isn't this..." Put the two together and the message is: "Isn't this where we came in?" This ties the end of the album back to the beginning with an easter egg.
  9. Blasphemy.... Of course I did. https://thewallanalysis.com/
  10. "The trouble with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money." Margaret Thatcher
  11. I'd also bet 50% of the people here will not believe the answer, and declare it must be a conspiracy. 50% will agree with the answer. So there is your 50/50.
  12. There are many topics that should not be taught by the state. (enough said about that) But financial training has to start somewhere. I'm sure I learned some from my family... I learned a lot more about finance after I moved out. In this case I suggest that many families have no clue how to be financially responsible. It seems sad to me that 41% of the people earing between $150,000 to $200,000 per year live paycheck to paycheck. Explained here. https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbesfinancecouncil/2022/10/11/should-schools-teach-financial-literacy-classes/?sh=104be0734633 That just confirms what @Dirtyhip posted above. People live FAR above their means. I guess they are 'entitle' to buy that BMW. Link for the chart below.
  13. Maybe on the wall where I teach how to race. (if there is money in that) https://ridelikeachampion.com/
  14. My attached garage walk in cooler had temps in the upper 30s for most of January. Now it's closer to 45 in there. I will need to move more beer into the fridge soon, if we don't get winter back here.
  15. The google tells me only 39% of people in their 20s in the US are saving for retirement. It doesn't mention how much they are saving. My 401K had company matching to 6%. For many years i saved 10%. Many people would wonder why I would save more than the matching amount. They didn't understand... Yeah... at least when I attended school.. if I recall, we had NO financial education in school. I found this.... link Not sure what these states consider important enough to teach. It's probably better than no training. States requiring personal finance coursework in 2020: Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.

Now it appears the object over Lake Michigan was shot down too. We are being invaded by balloons.
  17. Yeah it's 53 here. 19 degrees above normal. The low temp tonight, will be close to our normal high temp. Then again, Christmas time in December, we were about 20 degrees below normal. I got the hose out and washed our 3 cars and vacuumed them out too.

Yeah I heard about this too. https://www.foxnews.com/us/faa-abruptly-cancels-national-defense-airspace-lake-michigan-reporting-potential-contact Now it wa over Lake Huron, until it was shot down. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/local/michigan/2023/02/12/object-decommissioned-over-lake-huron-michigan-airspace-closure/69897024007/
  19. I remember all of the Chevy vs Ford 'discussions' we had in the 70s. I was a Chevy guy and my buddy was a Ford guy.
  20. That may be the problem... I'll guess the new engine makes more power, and it gets used.

How about this over Alaska. How the Pentagon shot down an unidentified object over Alaska https://www.usatoday.com/story/graphics/2023/02/11/second-high-altitude-object-shot-down/11230811002/

I'll bet @sheep_herder visits this place from time to time. 50,000 square feet stuff he may need from time to time. https://milescityacehardware.com/
  23. When WoBG and I got married. After the ceremony at the church, we went to a local restaurant we liked. They had a room reserved for us and maybe 25 people. We ordered off the menu I paid with my CC.
  24. That's one option... and probably relatively cheap. This would (assuming it fits and doesn't cost a small fortune) keep you existing gearing for hills/mountains and OD for most of the trip. https://www.gearvendors.com/motorhome.html
