  1. I wear a mask, along with my coworkers. I wish all visitors would be mandated to wear a mask, but they’re not. Maybe we don’t have adequate supplies for that, idk.
  2. It’s still 50% less exposure, and everyone I interact with has been screened for risk factors and had their temperatures checked coming into the building.
  3. We’re at 642 cases, up 37 from yesterday. That’s the smallest increase that I’ve noticed in a while, I hope it is the start of something good. Tomorrow I start two weeks working in the office, then two weeks of working from home with my boss alternating home/office rolls with me.
  4. AM I the only person to just realize today that the stimulus checks being sent out are actually an advance of our next year’s tax returns? So I can be reassured that all corporate monies paid will be repaid in future taxes?
  5. You may be immune to peer pressure, but it’s impossible to imagine that others around you wouldn’t be positively influence by your behavior. You’re a trend-setter, whether you know it or like it.
  6. I don’t think it’s known how long people may be infectious before they themselves show symptoms. So it will be hard to trace back all cases to known infected individuals if people aren’t in strict isolation. Also unclear how many people truly remain asymptomatic versus those that then ultimately develop very low grade symptoms that never get tested.
  7. “Which of those boxcars are coupled together?”
  8. Right. Which is why I struggle to see the response to date as being “hysterical “.
  9. I think the opposite is true, a lot of people think it’s nothing if you aren’t older with pre-existing medical conditions. I just checked, 2000 people in my state under the age of 50 have been hospitalized for Covid in 3 weeks. I think that’s worse than a lot of people anticipated?
  10. I’m not sure where you’re hearing this, but would you agree that without our current lock-down status, the infection rate would be WAY higher, and that with overwhelming infection rates, the death rates would go much higher, and the total number of deaths would be pretty huge? That’s a non-hysterical way of saying it, I think? That NYC isn’t at 10% is a reflection that a lot was learned from what happened in Italy, despite it being difficult to stomach as individuals. It seemed like overkill when my Governor locked us down on 3/17, although in retrospect he should have done it on 3/14, when he announced what was coming, he should have instead just put it in effect immediately. Citizens took longer to figure out it wasn’t a joke, of course.
  11. Infected. 12% of the infected Italian population died. 3% of the infected NY population has died. Worldwide it’s 5.3%, at least with the numbers we have.
  12. As a result, most people mistook it for a .45 and thought Quentin screwed up the line. He’s too obsessive to screw up a line.
  13. I’ve found the stores to be fairly empty of people and stocked with all the things I need. It’s actually been easier shopping over the past two weeks, tbh. Amazon, who usually delivers my paper towels, toilet paper and cat food/litter, has not been so wonderful.
  14. It’s 12% in Italy, 9% in Spain. So I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to think it could hit 10% IF we didn’t do a lock-down. NY is at 3% even with social distancing efforts. I agree it’s not the plague where everyone exposed will likely die, but again I don’t see the response as hysterical, even if it “just” saved 20,000 lives.
  15. I don’t understand what is being considered over reaction or hysteria. We’re all staying at home, venturing out only for food, essential activities, and for some of us work. Is this an over reaction in some people’s minds? There are “only” 552 cases in my county, and only three deaths, but I don’t think the stay at home order is unreasonable, because I think without interventions all of that would be turned in it’s head. To me, 10% death rate is if we pretended everything was normal, we all went about our business, and whoever caught it ended up as nature intended. But if fewer people get sick at once, the death rate can be kept closer to 2%. Seems like a worthwhile goal?
  16. It’s also been said that the US Federal reserves of PPE and medical equipment isn’t for the States to access, but instead for “us”. Our “leader” isn’t particularly nuanced in his approach to diplomacy, both domestic and international.
  17. Estimates are that 50-80% of people going on ventilators are dying, anyway. So being inside the building may be a worse omen than the parking lot, where your chances are better (as you’ve not already been deemed critically ill).
  18. I was as close as Pictou, but never heard of Oak Island. 🤔 What’s the claim of the curse?
  19. At work I go through a lot of Purrell. At home the only difference is I’ll wash after handling the mail or putting groceries away.
  20. I wore a flu mask to the grocery store today. Our governor has recommended everyone wear them when out of the house. I saw one N95, a couple of home made, and some others wearing none. So mixed bag. But store was pretty empty, everyone gave a lot of distance, and I am home. Safe for now.
