  1. Seems times are tough for bike shops. I bought a few things from them but quite a while ago. Sad to see. I believe I mentioned my LBS owner friend had to take a second job as her sales had really tapered off. Just before Covid hit she was in a bad way and then boomed for a couple of years but is slow again.
  2. Are you in Vegas? I’m working an event in Vegas through Sunday.
  3. WOChrisL was at WVU when we were dating. Did that drive often from Northern VA.
  4. I’m in @Kirby camp. I’d be thinking longer term as you could be forced out with no other options again in a few months. Although not ideal, #1 affords longer term options which IMHO makes it ideal.
  5. It’ll be interesting to see what my Rams do with their 1st round pick. Trade it, trade down or actually use it to address needs. I still think D Line & Edge should be the priority but knowing Sneed & McVay, they will likely pick a WR…
  6. I’m good with my black bikes. Unless it’s a high end paint job it will look like crap and I don’t see the need to spend that kind of money to repaint any of them.
  7. My wife rides a a Celeste Bianchi (I forget the model but a 7-8 YO carbon endurance model). IDK, I think t looks great.
  8. I wanted my Bianchi in Celeste but it wasn’t available in my size so I got nude carbon with white lettering. It’s absolutely gorgeous with the clear coat over raw carbon but…. Not Celeste.
  9. My last three bikes were black. Not necessarily my first choice but the only color available.
  10. I had a white 91 Nissan Sentra. My only white car.
  11. Plenty if a team does their homework. The best receiver (arguably) in last years draft Puka Nakua was a 4th rounder.

    Manic

My oldest brother was manic depressive and I had a hard time figuring out what was just him being him and what was part of his manic state. He was an avid fly fisherman but would spend hours on end on the water. He’d often just pee in his waders as he didn’t want to stop fishing. I couldn’t do it and often left him on the river for periods of time. He also would go all in on something, then walk away from it some time later. Like his fly fishing, I have seen him sell everything only to realize he made a mistake and then stock up on everything again.
  13. Interested to hear opinions on why they do this from someone who drove trucks. Are they incentivized to get there faster? There could be other reasons than the drivers are just assholes...
  14. Last time I was in Detroit I got Covid! I’ll pass this time. I am curious what my Rams do this year. They have a first round pick for the first time since they drafted Goff like 8 years ago. But they are also known to trade their picks too.

    Cheap date

    They’ll step up to Applebees!
  16. There is a section of the 5 Fwy that cuts through Camp Pendleton in San Diego. Years ago you couldn’t cut through the base so had to ride several miles on the freeway. No rain but yeah big rigs passing a few feet to your left at 70 MPH sucks you in. Really unnerving the first time it happened.
  17. There is a section between Barstow & State Line that are 2 lanes as well. The only reprieve is on the uphill grades there are 3 lanes and fortunately the truckers stayed out of the left lane. When I drove to Bakersfield often, it’s 4-5 lanes the whole way and the truckers generally clog 4 of them and sometimes take all 5.
  18. Just got settled in Vegas, WOChrisL & I drove. As we drove mid day traffic was light leaving OC (it can take 2 hours to go 50 miles in drive time) so that was good. Except… I forgot how much of a PITA truckers are. There are only 3 lanes and they take all fucking 3 as the slow guy in the right lane holds up a truck so other trucks pass in the middle lane. Then another trucker decides both trucks are too slow so decides to pass. So net result is right lane truck going 55, middle lane truck going 57 and left lane truck is going 60 and they are tying up traffic for miles. But wait it gets better, apparently when middle lane truck wants to pass in the left lane, he just comes on over regardless if there is a car there or three or not… I was 3rd car in a row of cars in the left lane and car #1 got pushed into the shoulder, car # 2 held is ground hitting the horn & got pushed to the shoulder too! Both cars passed the truck in the shoulder. Anticipating a pile up I backed off and got fucked… Three trucks three abreast 55, 57 & 60 MPH holding up traffic for miles again…. I’d say if the 200 miles of desert roads, half of them were spent stuck behind trucks blocking all lanes.

    Mmmm lunch

Sounds awesome!!! The Memphis way to serve that is on Wonder Bread.
  20. I had to watch the video in two sessions but that was pretty cool watch. Many see CA and especially LA as an urban sprawl (which it is) but the canyon areas that ring LA and also Orange County are really spectacular places. They are mostly Uber high end luxury homes now but there are still a lot of public access hiking trails, MTB & gravel riding and pro cyclists train on the roads there in the off season too.
  21. Pistol cartridge right? A slightly scaled down 357 Mag that I recall. Probably is hard to find.
  22. My FIL puts every available dollar into stock in his Schwab account. He told WOChrisL yesterday that he only has $21 until Friday!?!? WOChrisL was saying he’s nuts but he’s doing this for her as she’s the beneficiary on his portfolio & in the will she gets it all.
  23. Well it’s not exactly the GF’s mom’s place… She’s unemployed & disabled so technically it’s his GF’s place & mom helps pay the rent. The mom wants to live with her BF so when this lease ends they are looking to get their own place with another friend. Yeah my son is fairly good with money. He does take after his mom in that regard which is a good thing.
