A friend told me he is into home brewing. He offered to help me do a batch and see if I want to do more. I am working on getting enough bottles ready. Work, work work....

It's a struggle. I always run short. Most beers are canned so finding glass is a challenge. A friend just gave me 12 swing top bottles.

Keep drinking glass and send me your empties.

There is still a lot of glass, but you can see a higher percentage of cans every month. I think we can arrange something, though.

So how soon is that beer going to be ready? I could use one about now.

A long way off. Sorry. A day to brew. 7 to 10 days fermentation. Bottle condition for another 10 days and that’s the fast track. I like to dry hop in a secondary fermenter for another week after primary.

I'm low on caps at the moment. I need to place an order pronto. I have a lot of the wine bottles. I might get a corker.

Ever consider kegging? Soda kegs are pretty easy to use as I understand it.

I used to do 1/4 barrels, my local brewery was still using kegs with bungs. I'd ride my bike to their loading docks and get a handful when I ran low.

Now I don't have time to brew, but fortunately the diversity of what can be bought now is so much better than when I was brewing that it's a minor issue for me. I don't know if my carboys even made the last move 5 years ago....

I have considered kegging. It makes cleaning and serving easier. I ‘spose I could use a growler to transport beer.

Not really. More stuff, more space needed. I live in a 600 sq ft apt. I give most of my beer away to friends so a few bottles here and there is easy.
