Gump Posted October 28, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 28, 2013 I haven't flown a lot in recent years (since Al Gore invented the internet) so am wondering what's the best site to find cheap flights? Expedia, Kayak, Cheapflights.com....are any better than the others?
kingtermite Posted October 28, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 28, 2013 All those sites are the same, really. PIck one that you like the way it works and go with it. My wife likes travelocity. I've liked Orbitz in the past. Now my wife has a good friend who is a travel agent who helps us out for free.
jsharr ★ Posted October 28, 2013 Share #3 Posted October 28, 2013 All the airlines use crazy ass algorythms so prices change rapidly up and down.constantly.
kingtermite Posted October 28, 2013 Share #4 Posted October 28, 2013 I saw a report on the news last night that if you were looking for deals to fly for the holidays, the best time to buy was 2 weeks ago....further, they said if you plan to get tickets, get them NOW because they're only getting more and more expensive each day from now until end of year. Gump Posted October 28, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted October 28, 2013 We're looking to fly around mid January so hopefully the holiday price-gouge will be over.

Gump Posted October 28, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted October 28, 2013 A quick Orbitz search shows $400 each from SYR to DFW. I could live with that.

I can call the President of Texas and see if he can send one of the Texas Airforce jets to get you.
Kirby Posted October 28, 2013 Share #9 Posted October 28, 2013 I usually try Kayak and a couple different sites (you may try to clear your cookies between searches). When I finally find the airline I think has the best combination of airfares/times etc. I also go directly to that airline to check and will usually try to book directly on the airline's site. I find a lot of my airfares come at a better price direct from the companies website. I, however, use Hipmunk.com to find the best fare first then go there, same as Kirby. That is nuts! My wife and daughters are always clearing their history and tossing their cookies when searching for flights. Sheesh!
