Popular Post goldendesign Posted July 5, 2023 Popular Post Share #1 Posted July 5, 2023 The beginning half has been pretty good for me. I've increased my fitness and capabilities across the board. I've set and broken three different goals in both the 5k and 10k races. Competed in 3 5k races and 2 10k races. In all of them, I placed around the 75th percentile. Never the fastest, good lord Tampa has some fast as fuck runners, but my goal is usually to beat myself and place above average. Mission Accomplished. I've now set my first half-marathon for October 29th, training begins next week with these goals: A: 1:57 (8:50/mi) B: 2:01 (9:15/mi) C: Fucking finish Beyond the running, I've added weight training and low aerobic to round out my fitness routines. How goes everyone else's training going??

My goal is usually to have a smattering of events through the year that I aim to be in shape to complete, and, ideally, complete comfortably. So, towards that end, with my next event being at the end of August, I should be fine barring no illness or injury. Weather can easily toss a wrench in there too. I guess I do consider my riding to be training, just in the manner that it builds up my endurance for what I hope to be longer rides as the year goes on. Last fall my brother and I got in a 70+ mile ride on a trail outside Philadelphia, and I just learned of an 18-mile spur down into Chester County, that makes that network a century option... maybe that's something to target for later in the year. Otherwise I'm on a pace to smash my yearly mileage record (just set in 2022).
