tybeegb Posted October 17, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 17, 2017 So after two years I decided to get my "annual" Medicare physical with my "primary" doctor who I don't go to. I was really just curious about my blood work, and needed her to refer me to someone about my "suspected" hernias. LOTS of questions about most everything. Then came the one about alcohol. "Yes. I drink beer." "No, not everyday." "Yes, I drink more than two beers at a sitting." "Probably five or seven spread out over four or five hours." As she tells me I really need to only drink two beers when I drink and what it can do to my liver blah, blah, blah, I am dying inside. Two beers? So I'm expecting bad liver news from the blood work but that's normal, as is everything else, except my cholesterol levels which are about the same as they have been for forty years but now I need statins (no way) and blah, blah, blah as she points to the graphic on the wall blah, blah, blah. She sure does like to lecture. And I don't like to listen.
maddmaxx Posted October 17, 2017 Share #2 Posted October 17, 2017 Statins, the magic pill. I just don't know if they are the red ones or the blue ones.
Longjohn Posted October 17, 2017 Share #3 Posted October 17, 2017 My new doctor’s office called me, they were going to call in a prescription for statins and wanted to know what pharmacy I used. I told them to hold off on that until I see the doctor. When I saw her she agreed that all we really need to do is monitor it.

12string Posted October 17, 2017 Share #5 Posted October 17, 2017 Tell her you'll take the statins but you'll need more beer to wash them down.
