Quote of the Day: Napoleon Bonaparte

Like being an infantryman?  I think not!

(Why in the world does this sound like infant?)

In English, use of the term infantry began about the 1570s, describing soldiers who march and fight on foot. The word derives from Middle French infanterie, from older Italian (also Spanish) infanteria (foot soldiers too inexperienced for cavalry), from Latin īnfāns (without speech, newborn, foolish), from which English also gets infant.[1] The individual-soldier term infantryman was not coined until 1837.[2] In modern usage, foot soldiers of any era are now considered infantry and infantrymen.[3]

An infant (from the Latin word infans, meaning "unable to speak" or "speechless") is the more formal or specialised synonym for "baby", the very young offspring of a human. The term may also be used to refer to juveniles of other organisms.

So it is French vs Latin - very interesting...

I thought this was an RG quote.    :dontknow:

That quote is simply "if you want a thing done, do it yourself."

Someone else can probably do the thing better, but in the absence of someone else, getting the thing done is better than not getting the thing done, even if the thing is not done as well as someone else could do the thing.

IB, you can use this if you want.
