  1. This morning I needed to dodge lots of critters on the motorbike. Squirrels, Ground squirrels, Turkeys, Sandhills, even a Fox ran across my path.
  2. 90 degree temps was so last week. Don't think we'll see 60 all weekend. I was awake at 4 am, so figured I might as well start doing my laundry. I waited until 7am and the temps to be above 50 degrees before going out for a motorcycle ride. Got back after 9am, while the rain clouds were closing in. I mowed the grass before it started drizzling, finished the laundry and then took a nap with the foos.

    I'm Torn

Our Rotos already bloomed, but not our Peonies, not yet.
  4. Yahoo! Any reason to post this one again.
  5. Lol, sounds like snowmobilers in a motel parking lot. The guys with the huge trailers kind of park wherever its easyist for them, not so much for everyone else. Then they'll run the cords for their engine block heaters across the driveway so we need to lift them over our heads and sleds as we make our way out to the trail.
  6. The card we use for gas has a hundred dollar limit on purpose.
  7. Agreed. I don't use my old truck much. So its easy for me to keep it looking immaculate and "feeling" new. Its killing me that it needs to sleep outside now and its covered with yellow tree pollen. Which reminds me, I have a new pressure washer. A pic wearing it's new shoes/tires.
  8. Lol yep. With four cars and two trailers, I spend more time than most "people watching" either at the tire dealer or oil change places.
  9. Speaking of 4 barrels and police car sound.... Something aboot driving down Lake Street under the El at 120 per. "Its got a 440 inch plant, runs good on regular gas...."
  10. Yep, same here. The dealer had three CX 9s, White, Gray, and Black, two had hitches, one didn't. Guess which one didn't.
  11. We run ethanol free premium in the 9 and Miata. Mrs is working from home, and I drive our old Mazda 3 to work. If we were putting huge miles, we might use regular instead to save money. Sometimes Mrs forgets and puts in regular and I'll call her on it after I drive it. She'll deny it until we check the receipts. "How did you know?" "Because someone stole 35 HP." Its nice that Mazda offers you the option of either grade.
  12. Mrs really wanted a red CX 5, but I needed the 9's extra weight and GVW (same as my 3/4 ton Dakota) for towing the snowmo trailer. Mrs still might get her CX 5, but I'm pushing for a turbo CX 30 instead. The 5 isn't much smaller than the 9, and (to me) it doesn't make much sense to have two midsize-ish SUVs in the garage. And with the gas prices now....
  13. Yeah the boxers have their own sound. Mazda's torque comes from the Skyactivs shared diesel research DNA. I don't have any experience with different exhausts on the 2.5s, but after researching exhausts for our 2.0 Miata, I was able to find an exhaust that gave it an angry growl that didn't sound like a tuner car. On my CX 9, I cant even hear the turbo spool. But I sure can tell I've got one. Have you played with the sport mode on the trans? Its a hoot on a curvy road.
  14. Gave a thumbs up to an old timer driving an old Cutlass. He waved back and woke up his Quadrajet for me as he drove away. Brought back fond memories of my old Cutlass. Interestingly, that old Rocket 350 four barrel V8 had the same HP as the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder turbo in my modern CX 9. But not the same sound.
  15. He does. Its beautiful. I couldn't find the thread, but he posted a picture of it and it looked larger then the F 150 parked behind it.
  16. Kinda my plan too. But I've been known to forget and wear them to work. Some of the places I deliver to require steel toes.
  17. I have a few pairs of Sketchers, similar to yours. Love them. I call them my house shoes, but sometimes I'll forget and wear them when I go out too. And yeah, my kids call them old man shoes. Whatever.
  18. Three people at work tested positive and are at home. A few others were exposed and wearing masks. Mrs was working two days per week in the office until a few coworkers tested positive. Now back home full time.
  19. Yeah, I was looking forward to the warmer temps. Getting out on the motorbike, driving the Miata. Then two hot steamy days near 90, with a few more to come all in a row, brought me back to reality. We don't get the mild 70+- degree temp springs anymore. It goes from wet and cold straight into hot and buttery. And I hear they still have spotty ice and snow five hours north.
  20. 90 degrees with high humidity here in SE Wisconsin. The cement floor here is sweating and slippery. Looks like a few more days of this before a cool down this weekend.
  21. Kai Tak must have been a hoot before it closed. Fly towards the checker board, make a sharp right with seconds to line up, skim some roof tops just for fun, then jab it down to the runway before running into the bay.
  22. I'd try it. Theres a guy that flies one of those over our house all the time. I'd guess he is maybe a hundred feet off the ground. Maggie is not happy sharing her airspace and pitches a fit. I think she thinks its a huge noisy bird.
  23. I guess while sleeping, long legs can be an inconvenience. Short legs, not so much.
  24. Just talked to a friend who grew up in the area and kind of a history buff. He says its been vacant since at least the late 60s early 70s. Says there is a barn further down the road that someone used for storage, so thats in slightly better condition. Wish I took some pics of that but I thought it belonged to the neighboring property. Didn't want to spend too much time there, though I saw no no trespassing signs. You can barely see it from the road unless you just happen too look in that direction, even with no leaves on the trees.
  25. I spotted this. Been down this road hundreds of times, but this is the first time (with the lack of leaves) I saw this old fieldstone farmhouse. Am I the only one fascinated by stuff like this? To me its sad yet beautiful in its own way. No matter how well man builds something, mother nature will claim back what is hers. I'd guess circa mid to late 1800s.
