Bikeguy Posted November 26, 2020 Share #4 Posted November 26, 2020 From the NY Times: A Weird Monolith Is Found in the Utah Desert The authorities declined to disclose the exact location of the monolith, saying that attempts to visit it could be dangerous. “If individuals were to attempt to visit the area, there is a significant possibility they may become stranded and require rescue,” the Department of Public Safety said. But the department indicated that the monolith was on federally managed land — Utah has millions of acres of it — saying, “It is illegal to install structures or art without authorization on federally managed public lands, no matter what planet you’re from.” I guess we are now all safe again.... the government is here to help. 1

donkpow Posted November 29, 2020 Share #11 Posted November 29, 2020 "While the monolith has better craftsmanship than graffiti, this is still vandalism," said the Utah Department of Heritage & Arts. "It irreversibly altered the natural environment on public lands. While the monolith is interesting, we cannot condone vandalism of any type."
