Pig plan: Edmonton prepares for feral hog invasion with local strategy | Edmonton Journal Edmonton is over 350 km. north of us. They have deep river valley....runs into the downtown area. A growing, stealth problem in Canadian prairies. We did see a wild black hairy pig skittering across the highway near a ski resort in British Columbia. Dearie was driving the car. They are an I’ll-tempered rodent that resembles a pig, but is not. They are native, though. I have yet to have a close encounter. I’ve only seen one hit by a vehicle on the highway and another that was in a the desert on my commute.
