Popular Post tybeegb Posted May 23, 2019 Popular Post Share #1 Posted May 23, 2019 He'll be 13 in August. He is about 5'6" tall and weights in at 149 lbs. Lots of "baby fat" but I think he is about to hit a growth spurt. Said he wants to spend time at the beach this summer and go to the 'Y' with Grampa. We've been twice so far, and so far he seems to be really serious. Once he has the official youth orientation that the 'Y' does he can come and go as he pleases without me. I hope he hangs with it.
Longjohn ★ Posted May 23, 2019 Share #2 Posted May 23, 2019 Are there girls there? That will determine if he stays with it. How is the hip doing? Fully recovered now?

Will he get advice there or otherwise know how to do the lifts and what kind of program he should do?

They are more concerned about over-stressing his skeletal structure since he is so young. I've been holding him to really light weights, concentrating on form and specific muscle groups each time we've gone. Hopefully they will continue in that vein.
petitepedal ★ Posted May 24, 2019 Share #7 Posted May 24, 2019 Planet Fitness opens up for kids during the summer months...I don't recall the age group. Yup working on form at this age and less weight is better..but it can be fun..or as in my case...making sarcastic or off color comments to the trainer helps
