He'll be 13 in August.   He is about 5'6" tall and weights in at 149 lbs.  Lots of "baby fat" but I think he is about to hit a growth spurt.  Said he wants to spend time at the beach this summer and go to the 'Y' with Grampa.  We've been twice so far, and so far he seems to be really serious.  Once he has the official youth orientation that the 'Y' does he can come and go as he pleases without me.  I hope he hangs with it.

Will he get advice there or otherwise know how to do the lifts and what kind of program he should do?

Yep..  They are more concerned about over-stressing his skeletal structure since he is so young.  I've been holding him to really light weights, concentrating on form and specific muscle groups each time we've gone.  Hopefully they will continue in that vein.
