Popular Post Further Posted September 17, 2019 Popular Post Share #1 Posted September 17, 2019 They go from a band of happy neanderthals swinging hammers, to a clean, ready to work bare studs remodel, in about 15 seconds, and they smile the whole time. I had the tub out, all I had to do was tidy up a bit. It was a long hard day, swinging a hammer, fussing with pliers, even tried a grinder. The problem was old style hard coat plaster, specifically the metal corner reinforcement. Trying to attain a clean corner to transition to drywall was a son of a bitch. Had to cut the metal corner stuff length wise and not screw up the adjoining surface too bad. I tried a grinder with a cutting blade, the fumes were so bad I ran out of the room, don't know why, the combo of plaster and metal really made some smoke. Ended up using a hammer, a couple different chisels, and a pair of dykes to cut the metal. My neck, wrist, and hands took a beating. There is a reason construction workers tend to be young. Anyway, the shower surround is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I have to attend a funeral and won't be there. A couple pics. Wish I had taken a couple with the tub out & mess remaining. Amazing how much work to accomplish so little Oh, almost forgot, used the shopvac to finish cleanup. Forgot about throwing away the filter that time I sucked up the water. Looked like a volcano, ran out of the room holding my breath again. 6
Scrapr ★ Posted September 17, 2019 Share #2 Posted September 17, 2019 You sure do have a purty mouth....enclosure. Yeah, the home improvement shows are BS. They all do the demo with bats, or small hammers. Pisses me off. I turn it off right then. No demo guy would ever do that. Ever. Was that fiberglass or Cast iron? Cast iron can be a beotch to get out. Sometimes (best practice) is to put a bit of mortar under a fiberglass tub and lay in some water. Helps cut down on the flexing

It was in perfect shape and very well made. I'm sure my replacement won't be as high quality. But it had to go. Mrs. Further can't clear tub sides, and she likes the occasional shower. They are running a special on the tv station my wife watches. Terry Bradshaw will sell you a walk in tub and throw in an $800 shower package absolutely free.

I want to throw something at the tv every time that ad comes on. AirwickWithCheese Posted September 17, 2019 Share #10 Posted September 17, 2019 I LOVE Broadway Joe. But I agree that's a horrible ad.
team scooter Posted September 17, 2019 Share #11 Posted September 17, 2019 Our son and dil watch all the home improvement shows and recently remodeled their whole house. They'll come over and say we "need" to remodel our home to keep up with modern trends. I'll ask if that's what the home improvement shows told them to do? Her face really brightens up when she rides in the convertible. She even seems a little bummed out riding in the regular cars.
