  1. Shirley making your own ice cream is easier than making your own doughnuts. Our daughter got this - she makes it, and we get to help eat it. Perfect. (though we generally get stuck washing it)
  2. I'm a cat person all the way, but we don't have one due to allergies (my wife and her mom). I don't see cats eating feces - certainly that makes them less gross than some. I have been lucky to have had a lot of very friendly cats in my life. We have a rabbit. Where do they rank?
  3. yeah. I'm pretty happy to stay within the limits of a long car ride. Last time I flew was in 2002, I think.
  4. I didn't know that - I used to watch the show a lot, but sort of lost interest. To some extent it was the same thing every week. And forgive me - but it wasn't the same after Kari Byron left (though apparently that wasn't as long ago as I thought).
  5. I had a bad poison ivy rash a couple years ago. Running it under the hottest water I could possibly stand would head off the itch for at least an hour. There was really hot water running in the bathroom at the office in PA. But - the ex-husband of a friend did indeed apply straight bleach to a poison ivy rash, and he claimed it worked well.
  6. Even the division title was way past expectations. Great season - but I hope it gets a little greater.
  7. "Molar? I hardly know her!"
  8. I'm a huge proponent of new music - and would seriously consider both 2006 and 2014 pretty highly in an exercise like this - but I think I would have to give the nod to 1977. The punk revolution saved music. "Heroes" and "Marquee Moon" are both in my all-time top 10.
  9. I'm sorry... glad you are able to be with family.
  10. Joe? Is that you? https://youtu.be/ZlIe5mBqIB4 So the band broke up And it looks like We will never play again Wee-oooooooo embeddin's not workin'.
  11. Yep - she's feeling better. congratulations on the silver, DH! excellent!
  12. Philadelphia's WXPN-FM is soliciting comment on this pressing issue, in advance of some sort of countdown-type playback. I expect the years 1966-1973 or so will get most of the votes (both there, and here). What say ye? I have a sarcastic friend who votes for 1722, the year Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier was released. I think it won a couple Grammys.
  13. The Mets have seemed charmed at times this season - I expected very little from them this year, so even a division title was gravy. I am frankly a little bit stunned at where they stand, and how dominant they've been. If I was a fan of any other team I'd be pulling for Chicago. but instead - let's go Mets!
  14. Yes - here in NJ a double yellow line means No Passing. A ticket for "improper passing" carries four points. Agreed - the motorcyclist didn't deserve to get taken out by a car, but if he hadn't been riding that way this most likely would not have happened. That's one dangerous game.
  15. Still a few A&P's in North Jersey, but I think they're all going as part of the same deal Kirby's lamenting. Acme is one of the major chains in the Philadelphia area. It was our regular supermarket when we lived at our first house, east of Trenton.
  16. At some point iIn the movie Strange Brew, the two guys are about to drive off in a tractor trailer full of beer, and one of them says "jeez, it's a ten-speed". And for the longest time I thought it was a joke (like a ten-speed bike).
  17. well, at least we don't have to encourage you to go see the cardiologist. good luck - hoping it's nothing to worry about.
  18. wow, that's awesome. Congratulations! and good on you, DH! I love this thread!
  19. "I have people skills! I am good at dealing with people, can't you understand that?! What the hell is wrong with you people?!"
  20. "Suede blue eyes"? Is that what he says? I guess I didn't know what he said, but I didn't think it was that. I love music but I'm no good at deciphering lyrics sometimes.
