  1. You can solve this problem by holding a lighter immediately adjacent to the point of emission.
  2. Got up about 5:30, jumped on the computer to check that my ankle bracelet was still tracking. Yup, no worries there. Waited about two hours then called in to my parole officer on a zoom call. He was grumpy about taking a Saturday morning call, but he set up the meeting. Took out three window air conditioners, made some minor repairs on one, then stored them away. Spent some time reading The Americans - The National Experience by D. Boorstin and The Parolee's Guide to Rebuilding Reputation by A. G. Capone. Mrs. TK and I went to lunch at one of her favorite restaurants, and then we did some shopping for the grandkids. Went to work on the garden tractor to replace the belt and two pulleys. The two 'compatible with your tractor' pulleys I had ordered were not, but that only became evident once the original parts were removed after some difficulty and a few ungentlemanly exhortations. The belt fit, though. Old pulleys went back on (with slightly fewer uncouth verbal encouragements); they were still in good shape. There were no parts left over. The non-compatible parts are getting sent back for refunds.
  3. I liked that Simon and Garfunkel song - I think the lyrics went like this Ophelia, you're breaking my heart, You're shaking my confidence daily...
  4. We'll know the moment Further's account has been hacked - it will be when his pictures start posting right side up.
  5. Dottles, my compliments on the great job you did photoshopping those kayaks and people into that photo! It almost looks like they were really there!
  6. It looks to me as if the white-sided part of the house was the original building, and the grayish-sided part of the house was the addition. The service cable probably ran along the outside wall of the original house, and they just built the addition up against that side without moving the cable. (Good luck reading the meter.) I'm guessing the white aluminum siding peeled down in the upper left of the picture is where they reached in to drag the service cable back up to stick it through the hole they cut in the soffit. Somewhere along the way during the renovation they lost the weatherhead, which is supposed to go on the end of the service cable. I'm also guessing the contractor didn't have the utility shut off the power at the pole, and was also deathly afraid of electricity. Knowing he had to take everything apart to put a weatherhead on, he probably didn't want to mess around with the live wires any more than necessary. Hence, he used the jumper cables to make a temporary connection without coming into contact with any live wires. Just my guess...
  7. I might try that, it doesn't seem all that difficult. I just need to know when you cook it, how long should I set the microwave for?
  8. Perhaps a lease or rental might be easier to find, both as a short term solution to move your Dad closer, sooner; or as an alternative to all the complications of buying a house and all the issues of arranging for upkeep of the property after the purchase.
  9. Don't throw it out! Drag it out to the front yard, set it on its back, take the door off, fill it full of dirt and make it into a flower box!
  10. I would guess you could order it from any one of those 'adult entertainment' websites it looks like you've been visiting. I'd suggest you make sure you check the box for 'discrete plain brown paper packaging' when you're checking out.
  11. That's pretty awful. You have to wonder where people come up with these ideas. Things like that can only spring from complete ignorance. (Present company excepted, of course!)
  12. I would suggest it's probably used under and around some coffee.
  13. OK, so the video opens discussing the impact of climate change on the glacier. If there's all that concern, why would someone take an E-bike that needs charging and additional resources from the environment instead a more environmentally-friendly human powered bike that doesn't require that energy and resources?
  14. And I bet you were the mean old bad patriarchal misogynistic brother for taking over organizing everything and changing how the SS check was direct deposited too, weren't you?
  15. I was going to suggest RG left his loofah on the stump.
  16. With all of his peers who can't get their faces out of their phones, he's going to have a long and successful career!
  17. Forgive me for disagreeing, but that stuff happens all the time when aliens are landing their spaceships. It's how you know when to put on your tin foil hat...
  18. Some people have all the fun! We're only supposed to get a bit of rain.
  19. It's the way the seasons change. It's kinda tricky, but if you look very closely and you know what you're looking for, you can see the dividing line between summer and fall.
  20. You should ask for more, because after you buy my gifts the other Forumites will be disappointed there's nothing left for them.
  21. They do, but they're just cheap knock-offs of the original...
