We've been trying to figure out how to help Earl get rid of the constant supply of ticks he seems to acquire living in the wild.  There was no way we were going to get away with putting a collar on him though.  This morning while feeding him womaxx managed to apply a liquid "between the shoulders" anti flea and tick treatment.  I hope is does some good.

There are chewable tablets that treat flea and ticks; however, they can be expensive plus require a vet's prescription. Then after you buy a package, the cat might not eat them.

I use a powder. If I can pet them, I can treat them.

Earl is not the cat that bit me.  Clyde the asshole bit me because he was pretending to be macho cat at the door while Earl was sitting on the deck minding his own business.  Clyde got caught in the screen and was so worked up he bit me when I tried to help him get loose.

Earl's safe unless he starts rolling on his back like he wants to play.  Then it's put your hands in your pockets.

My parents had some feral cats in their backyard.  They took the two that were willing to come in, in, but the third could not be enticed.  They'd put the flea and tick stuff on the third cat, and it definitely seemed to help with fleas, but I don't recall them being in a heavy tick area.  Good luck.  It's much better for you and the cat!
