I knew who he was when he released his first solo album in my record store days. I liked that album a lot and it encouraged me to work backwards on his music with the Band and Bob Dylan. His album “Contact From the Underworld of Redboy” had a real impact on me. It is uneven, but when it hits, it’s transcendental! 
He was also featured in “Rumble”. A documentary on Native American performers in popular music. Watch it if you haven’t seen it.

I watched a short rundown of the Band's hits when everyone was talking about it yesterday..  I just don't get it, meh at best for me.  To be fair, I never took a deep dive of their stuff, so maybe I should give it a chance.

I began to appreciate the Band more in my early 20s than I did in HS.  I always did like The Weight. I think I first heard it when I watched Easy Rider at the movies, spring of 1970.

I just read his book Testimony earlier this year. Wow! He did more interesting stuff before he was 25 than I've done in my whole life.
