JerrySTL ★ Posted April 4, 2020 Share #1 Posted April 4, 2020 For both WoJSTL and myself. We were born less than a month apart in 1954. My check should start arriving in July and WoJSTL's in August. Both checks combined are a little less than I'm making working so we shouldn't miss my job too much. Actually not at all. 2

Ralphie ★ Posted April 4, 2020 Share #3 Posted April 4, 2020 Nice! My wife only gets a pittance because she had a low paying job that she quit decades ago. She thinks she can do something like get half the amount I will get? I needs to do some research.

And... if you worked in 2020, and if you not over 65, then there is an income limit for your SS benefit. Something like (I'd have to look) a $14,500 limit. I took a hit in pay with Social Security plus a good pension compared to working, but my last house payment occurred 7 months after I retired and with no FICA plus tax advantages, I ended up with more spending money in retirement than when I worked.
