Using the great recommendation and write-up by @MickinMD we narrowed down our selection for a digital piano for our daughter.
We borrowed a simple Casiotone 61 key portable for her to play with while not in her lessons and to see if she practiced at home with minimal fuss. She actually kept pretty close to 15-20 mins of real practice almost every day without us even prompting her. She's also made good progress with her instructor.
This made us pay closer attention to purchasing a keyboard. Costco carries a very well-reviewed Roland FP-10 package that they call the FRP-1. Comes with a nice stand, sustain pedal, bench, and headphones. They typically have it for $699 and yesterday while grabbing some essentials, I saw they had it on sale for $550 until Dec 24th.
So now we own a very nice-looking, and IMHO, playing piano. The daughter hasn't seen it yet but will tonight after gymnastics practice.
