Randomguy Posted June 2, 2014 Share #1 Posted June 2, 2014 I spent money I can't afford on a bike for the wife and also got her Speedplay Zero pedals. She needs shoes still, and lessons in falling the hell over, and how to figure out how to shift and ride on hoods and such. The bike will be in on Friday. Square Wheels Posted June 2, 2014 Share #2 Posted June 2, 2014 That's a purdy bike. Did she want one, or did you want it for her?
Randomguy Posted June 2, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted June 2, 2014 That's a purdy bike. Did she want one, or did you want it for her? Both. She needs a real bike for triathlon purposes and general fitness. She had been competing (sprint triathlons) on a 38lb steel girls bike from the 60's or early 70's. Really, really upright, comfortable as hell, it is amazing that she has been competitive on it.

Nate Posted June 2, 2014 Share #7 Posted June 2, 2014 why Speedplay pedals?
Randomguy Posted June 2, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted June 2, 2014 why Speedplay pedals? Because they are the best, and best for people new to clipless pedals. Step down and go, couldn't be easier.

Road Runner Posted June 2, 2014 Share #12 Posted June 2, 2014 That's great news then. That is a nice looking bike. I'm sure she'll be a lot faster. Have you ordered new wheels yet?
Square Wheels Posted June 2, 2014 Share #13 Posted June 2, 2014 Have you ordered new wheels yet? Nope. Will wait for the first of these two things to happen. My wife gets me some for my birthday, not likely (too many choices) or I drop my weight to 170. That will probably take until next year. I've been losing weight for a while now. I drop 5 - 30 pounds then take a break and make sure I can maintain that weight. I'm close to the maintain phase again.
