First, how do you bake for Christmas now when Christmas is some few days away still. Secondly, fruit cake? What is the story there?

I maintain, if you don't like fruitcake, you haven't had real fruitcake. 1

This could be true, but still, fruitcake? Why? I am in need of enlightenment, despite most probably never having had even mediocre fruitcake and the whole concept as I understand it seems wrongish. You see, much like alcohol in the USA, fruitcake was at one time banned in Europe because it was thought to be too opulent, rich and flavourful. The revival must be celebrated annually.

I am skeptical that more than 100 people on earth like fruitcake. When I visit Canadaland, I will expect to try some of yours.
Further Posted September 14, 2019 Share #15 Posted September 14, 2019 Someone used to give my mother a fruitcake every Christmas. I loved them. The store bought crap available today doesn't hold a candle.
Kirby Posted September 15, 2019 Share #16 Posted September 15, 2019 My Mom used to like fruitcake, but her real treat was stollen, a sort of fruit bread, that seems to appear around Christmas. 1
