Further Posted January 25, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2020 I am now taking cholesterol meds & blood pressure meds. Does this mean I no longer have to watch what I eat ? Can I rely on the meds to keep everything in order ? I try to watch what I eat, but high cholesterol runs in my family, and my will power isn't all that powerful. AirwickWithCheese Posted January 25, 2020 Share #3 Posted January 25, 2020 No, you must take care of yourself, Further. You are essential personnel in the Cafe. Long walks around the lake and no Cirque Soleil. 2
maddmaxx ★ Posted January 25, 2020 Share #4 Posted January 25, 2020 The meds can only do so much. They are there to assist, not cure. 2

Life is a mystery wrapped in an inflammatory bowel disease, as they always say. 1 1

I try to watch what I eat, but high cholesterol runs in my family, and my will power isn't all that powerful. I inherited my father's low-cholesterol genes, but also the family's diabetes tendencies. My family doctor and diabetic specialist both said a low-dose statin resulted in longer life for diabetics regardless of cholesterol levels. My sister, the cancer research nurse, doesn't like statins. I had a long talk about statins with my family doc two Thursdays back and he convinced me to use them. So I just put them in my two-week pill case. My HDL numbers are always over 60, my LDL is around 70. It will be interesting to see what the cholesterol numbers are in my April blood test.
