This could be a difficult problem to solve. The prions are not actually alive, so they cannot be killed. They can remain intact in the soil for decades. Standard surgical instrument sterilization procedures are ineffective in destroying them. Burning or chemicals that can break the molecular bonds are the only effective destruction techniques.
Whatever makes them the most money NOW for their major shareholders and CEO is the required process. If they go belly up in a few years, no problem. The CEO will have his new mega-yacht and golden parachute and the shareholders will have their 35% dividends and will have cashed out.
