Popular Post ChrisL Posted October 23, 2018 Popular Post Share #1 Posted October 23, 2018 So with two wedding ceremonies coming up and my daughter not sure which one to recognize as their official anniversary, they decided to get legally married today, the 8th anniversary of their 1st date. Both parents and numerous friends met at the county courthouse today. This made me feel excited. So we all arrive at the appointment time and we are told the computer system is down and to hang tight. This made me feel a bit frustrated as all of us were on our lunch breaks and my daughter was between classes. An hour later, the system is still down and my daughter is upset, SIL is frustrated, mother of SIL is going bat shit crazy on the clerk and wife is pissed as she needs to get back to work. This compelled me to step in. I told the wife we aren't leaving, tell work you are going to be late and had mother of SIL step outside & get some air. I explained to the clerk what the dilemma was, our time constraints and the significance of getting married on this day. Yes we can come back tomorrow but is there is anything you can do today??? She said yes hold on and left. This made me feel relieved but also a bit anxious. Clerk came back with paper forms, said fill them out, date them today, I'll notarize them and when the system is up and running we'll enter it as of today so the marriage certificate reads today. My daughter visibly lit up, SIL was relieved and I felt a sense of gratitude as the clerk could have blown us off for getting bitched at by mom if SIL but agreed to help. Forms filled out, we all went into the little chapel and the same clerk legally married them on their special day. This made me feel especially proud to see my daughter so happy with her love exchanging vows. So afterward the clerk said we could stay for pictures but we all had to get back to work & class. This made me feel rushed to get my wife back to her office and get me back to mine. I also had to pee really bad and traffic was bad. The first one is in two weeks and is the "India" wedding. I'm really just a spectator for this one. The main wedding is Dec 22nd and the vows & such will be administered by me at their request.
