name?

These are Peruvian “tamals” and are wrapped in a banana leaf. The masa is wet and smooth unlike most of the Mexican ones which are tasty too but different.  I kinda like these better tho.  The place is a hole in the wall by my work called El Paraiso.

Clearly you'll need a bike ride thereafter. Looks yummers.  What type of veggie leaf or herb in the tamale?

I don’t know what that is but it’s savory & good.  It’s not banana leaf as it’s really soft & not fibrous at all.  That’s a pork tamal BTW, my favorite.

I could ask but not likely Id know the answer as I generally have to order by pointing at the menu & indicating with my fingers how many!😂. The lady speaks 0 English and my Spanish is poor.

I love tamale's but finding a good place is rare around here.

One Mexican place was excellent, owned and staffed by Mexicans from Mexico. They did a hell of a business for about 10 years, made their money and high tailed it back to Mexico. Fantastic people, regulars were treated like family, but they were homesick..

I have to learn to make my own
