Popular Post donkpow Posted January 28 Popular Post Share #1 Posted January 28 My mother moved from her home into a senior living community apartment building. It's a nine story building with small apartments on each floor. The hallway is a simple affair much like a college dormitory corridor. So my mom is having some anxieties about the activity that is happening right outside her door. She thinks that someone is trying to break in on a regular basis while she is there. And she thinks it is the guy who lives right down the hall. After reporting to community management and calling the police, we installed a "Ring Peephole Doorbell Camera" by Amazon. Of course you can't just install that without the Ring app and the Alexa app. Then if you want some sort of instant notification, you need to install the Echo Dot. Then, if you want monitor remotely (like a good son), you will want to get an Echo Show device that pops the camera video whenever an event in the hallway occurs. That's fine, I was prepared to go all in with a professional system and put it in without notifying the community managers. Sort of like spy cameras and automatic Tasers in one. So anyway we put this in and management loves us. (No holes in the door.) Now, Jeff, if you are listening, and you people tell him when you see him in case he doesn't read this, stop putting so much advertising on the Amazon devices. My lawn mower doesn't put advertising. My DeWalt impact wrenches don't put up advertising. My Wolverine work boots don't put up advertising. Don't put up advertising on my smart home hub, Jeff. It's crass. I know you have a smokin' hot babe for a wife and I am pretty sure she would not like to have this ugliness imposed upon her. Just don't do it, Jeff. Just say no. Do it for all the beautiful people and their security staff. 5 4 1

Airehead Posted January 28 Share #10 Posted January 28 It is probably someone who cannot remember where their own apartment is.

We give it a week? How often was it happening (before the Ring) and when do you think we'll see it again?

It's looking like the medical person who comes in during the evening to assist the folks down the hall has a heavy gait. The lighting in the hall is motion sensitive so the lights go on high when someone walks through. When he walks by my mom's door, he casts a shadow on the floor and under the door. Easily visible from inside the apartment. The doors are designed to be self closing in case of fire. They close and latch on their own. They also rattle a bit because weather strip or cushions would interfere with the closing. These details correlate with the description she has provided me in describing the 'harassment'. Plus the guy who lives down the hall gives out a creepy vibe. I deduced this with one observation of the camera feed. I told my mom but she doesn't believe me. My brother also has doubts. Frankly, I am little disappointed, too. I was hoping to throw somebody off the balcony.
donkpow Posted January 29 Author Share #13 Posted January 29 I put bumper pads around the door frame so that it won't rattle and sound like someone lightly tapping on the door. 1

Kzoo Posted January 29 Share #17 Posted January 29 My people talk to Jeff’s people all the time. As a matter of fact Jeff is supposed to drop something off at my office for me tomorrow. I’ll let him know your concern. No need to thank me.
