Yeah, the knees really hurt on climbs in cooler weather. It sucks. The bright side is that my orthopedic doctor told me at 18 that I would need artificial knees by the time I was 35, but that hasn't happened.
Square Wheels Posted April 23, 2016 Share #11 Posted April 23, 2016 Is there anything you can do to improve the knees? Anti-inflammatories, steroids, pot?

Ride, stretch, hope. Pot does help for pain, btw, that stuff ought to be legal every damn place. My hip has been bothering me for more than a month, so even walking is a painful activity. It seems to be improving in small measures, though, so there is that.

If the cartilage in your knees is mostly gone, running is pretty much out of the question. Drugs won't help.

Yeah, you would think that they could do something. So far, artificial knees seem to be the primary treatment.

I like knee warmers for 50-70. Then, shorts. Shorts and full leg warmers for 35-50. Therminal tights for under 35, and sometimes i add some wool baggy shorts. Y'see, I can get away with baggies, because I do it in the dirt.
Road Runner Posted April 23, 2016 Share #18 Posted April 23, 2016 My knees are so bad, I refuse to ride outdoors when it is below 70F. Even in warm temps, my knees hurt. 60's and below, they hurt too much.
