Square Wheels Posted August 12, 2016 Share #1 Posted August 12, 2016 This is not my annual Coke vs Pepsi poll, we all know Pepsi will win again. On the few centuries I've done I notice they always have Coke at the stops. I also see the pros drinking mini Cokes when they ride. In my last century I saw they had Pepsi at one stop. I prefer Pepsi, but wanted to look pro so I went for the Coke. I feel so cheated now.
Kzoo Posted August 12, 2016 Share #2 Posted August 12, 2016 So I suppose you are going to disguise next years poll with some other ridiculous question like "Coke or Pepsi, which do you prefer when you're waiting for your wash at the laundromat."
AirwickWithCheese Posted August 12, 2016 Share #3 Posted August 12, 2016 How long did you date SpeedDemon before she married you? To be honest, and please factor this is coming from Cheese, you seem like a weirdo.
parodybot Posted August 12, 2016 Share #4 Posted August 12, 2016 http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-athletes-who-train-with-soda-1418152993 Drink whatever works for you. Seems many of the top athletes drink soda right after an event. Many that drink it during an event drink it flat. I would go for a giant chocolate shake made with real milk and high butterfat content vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup.
TrentonMakes Posted August 12, 2016 Share #5 Posted August 12, 2016 When I ride I carry water and sometimes Gatorade. I find no need for anything else. Though my one-day max is still only 2/3 of a century. Could I instantly double that with a Pepsi? RE Coke/Pepsi, I suppose the caffeine might be helpful but I would not want the carbonation. Road Runner Posted August 12, 2016 Share #7 Posted August 12, 2016 This poll is invalid without Cherry Dr Pepper or Cheerwine.

I was only asking about what I have seen on organized century ride. Water, gatorade, some type of sports drink, and until now Coke. I saw Pepsi also on the last one. Start your own poll on liquid poison if you want.
Zealot Posted August 12, 2016 Share #12 Posted August 12, 2016 Honestly I like Coke best because it mixes better with liquor.
Road Runner Posted August 12, 2016 Share #13 Posted August 12, 2016 Shouldn't sodas consumed before and during a race have been pre-opened and allowed to go flat?

Oddly I was able to drink 2 at one of the stops last month and did just fine. I was worried about the carbonation too, but it didn't bother me at all. Zealot Posted August 12, 2016 Share #15 Posted August 12, 2016 When I put sodas in my water bottles for a ride, I mix them 50% with water. Draws down the carbonation and is a little easier on the stomach during hard exertions.
