May the 4th be with you

It's still raining here. I should go try to clean out the garage and make more room for the new kayak. I have two kayaks stacked on top of each other and the new one is turned on it's side beside the other two. It's hard to get past them to get to my toolbox.

Has your wife discovered the new one yet?

@maddmaxx is that the bike you bought to customize to you? Looks like a great day for a ride!

@Longjohn do you n+1 kayaks like some of us n+1 bikes? I don't kayak, so I don't know how that works.

And May the Fourth be with you....

Yes.  That's a WSB from Nashbar that I grabbed up for the frame for less than $300 after all the closeouts and discounts.  The frame is a very good fit for how I ride in my 70's.  I took everything off except the stem and bars and mounted Shimano wheels w 32 mm tires, a complete Shimano Sora 8sp drive train (including flat bar road brifters) from my old flat bar road bike with Avid mechanical road brakes.  50/34 compact front and now 12/34 rears.  The 8sp is in my experience bullet proof.  The new Sora 9sp deraileur is advertised to take up to a 32 cassette and handles the 34 without complaint.  I normally ride with the rear rack and bag to carry cameras, tools, stuff as necessary.  I've sold all the other bikes and this is my general all purpose rider for road and gravel.

Why that frame.............well I'm 6' tall with a 30 inch inseam and I've always had to find frames that are smallish for my height but with longer top tubes.  This one lets me ride a bit more upright at my age and still has room for stem adjustments to even add to that when necessary.

Rain this morning and high winds forecast for this afternoon. All the good weather we had in the last couple of days was spent doing yard work while the bicycles languished. The yard projects are not finished, so my bike riding will be curtailed next week too.

Not into Star Trek, but happy Friday. We're in the enhanced risk for severe storms this afternoon.  Woohoo. Mostly high winds. The tornadoes are expected to be in the batch of storms that has already passed us by (A warning for TKS and possibly FSOG), but when the cold front comes we may get an intensely windy storm.
