Wilbur ★ Posted November 20, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted November 20, 2019 My parents were depression era kids and din't have a lot of money when they were young. They would never throw away leftover oatmeal so with am egg and a little sugar, it became sort of a pancake next day. They were best when fried in bacon grease. 1

It filled an empty stomach. But I actually didn't mind it at all.
MickinMD ★ Posted November 20, 2019 Share #7 Posted November 20, 2019 My mother, also a Depression Era kid, also often used an egg or two to bind together/flavor leftovers, though she wasn't big on oatmeal. Cheese and cooked pasta and egg all fried together was a big deal to us, with bacon, hotdogs, chicken, or whatever leftover meat was on hand thrown in. That was/is so good, my siblings and I still make it on occasion.

Fried oatmeal sounds like it could be tasty. Your leftovers sound like they could be tasty.

I don’t get it...
