Popular Post Further Posted March 12, 2023 Popular Post Share #1 Posted March 12, 2023 It is a good quality trailer, it held up to a block building collapsing on it. I've had it for a couple years now, and it has come in very handy hauling garden stuff and building material around. I find it more useful than a pickup, it was cheap and I don't have to baby it, and I can just de hitch it and drive away. I've mostly used it close to home, were if it broke down, a flat tire or something, it wouldn't be a big deal. But I'll be making some longer trips with it soon, and carrying heavier loads, near rated capacity. So I have been doing some maintenance, bought new wheels, replacing the wooden floor, repaint, replace the bent floor supports. As is my custom I will soon have about 1200 dollars and many hours of labor in a trailer I could have bought for 1000 to start with. Me & Charlie Brown, we got a lot in common 5

groupw Posted March 13, 2023 Share #10 Posted March 13, 2023 I keep toying with this idea to replace the pickup. I have a feeling when it comes time to replace the CX5, it will be about the same time to retire the Dakota.

Dragging a trailer in kind of a PIA, I used to be a very good trailer driver, now I am maybe lower average. If you can drive a trailer they are very handy. And you can beat the hell out of it with out regrets. Kind of like an old farm truck.
sheep_herder ★ Posted March 13, 2023 Share #12 Posted March 13, 2023 I bought an old gooseneck trailer built on a trailer house frame for cheap at an auction. After reflooring and raising the bed above the wheels it has worked well for hauling hay. Even brought a load the 150 miles from Billings. Probably spent $1,000 for modifications, but had folks offer me that much for it after I was finished. Now, I've used it for many years, so I think it was a good investment. Still using it today. 3

Naa, it is prolly a dozen years old, the grease in the bearings was still grease. A block building collapsed on it, and the wooden floor has been out in the weather for a dozen years. It was OK for local stuff, a hundred miles from home I want a little more faith it will come home home with me.
donkpow Posted March 13, 2023 Share #14 Posted March 13, 2023 If the pandemic taught us anything, it is that a utility trailer is an essential tool.
