Square Wheels Posted September 26, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 26, 2013 If you came here looking for pics, sorry to disappoint. Let's say I understand cheerleading for young kids as an activity and something to get them moving. I'll even concede it's worthwhile in a high school where the cheerleaders can get the crowd cheering, but are they needed in professional sports? Why doesn't baseball have them? Good god, if ever a sport needed cheering up... To me it all goes back to the podium girl issue. Are they adding anything to the sport? Has anyone ever said "Damn, he would have nailed that field goal if the cheerleading were better!". I've never been to a football game, Pats tickets are $300+ for nosebleed seats. Too rich for me. But I can't imagine watching them over the players. Has anyone ever looked at a cheerleader and said I wonder what her ambitions in life are? I wonder what her degree is in? I say we ban cheerleading from sports.
Ralphie ★ Posted September 26, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 26, 2013 If you came here looking for pics, sorry to disappoint. And here I thought you were making a shameless play for traffic. I agree with ignoring spectator sports. Expensive and pointless, IMO.
JerrySTL ★ Posted September 26, 2013 Share #3 Posted September 26, 2013 Why doesn't baseball have them? Baseball isn't as boring as football and basketball.
Indy Posted September 26, 2013 Share #4 Posted September 26, 2013 I went to some Colts games in the early years here in Indy, of course I was young then, but I was glad for the cheerleaders to watch. Can say the same thing about my Boilermakers football lately. :(

Chris... Posted September 26, 2013 Share #6 Posted September 26, 2013 I saw the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders. They looked good from a distance, close up, not so much.
Mr. Silly Posted September 26, 2013 Share #7 Posted September 26, 2013 My nephew joined a competitive cheerleading team.
jsharr ★ Posted September 26, 2013 Share #8 Posted September 26, 2013 The Texas Aggies have Yell Leaders. I like this. We get to yell jibberish at the other team while bending over and squeezing our genitals after making weird hand signs. Great fun.
Thaddeus Kosciuszko Posted September 26, 2013 Share #9 Posted September 26, 2013 Every so often a 'cheerleading' organization will stand outside one of the big box store with canisters, begging for money so they can go to a 'cheering' competition in Hawaii. Really? Hawaii? I've yet to visit Hawaii myself, so I'm not about to contribute to a bunch of snowflakes to travel there for a cheering competition, of all things. And they better keep of my lawn too!
Indy Posted September 26, 2013 Share #10 Posted September 26, 2013 And they better keep of my lawn too! Chearleaders do your lawn work? I like that idea.
