TMI but I gotta release somewhere

Taking my wife on vacation is exhausting.

At home the routines are routine, she can get around the house and sort of fend for herself, 

In a hotel there are a lot of unknowns, it always seems to work out , but I'm on high alert and you never know. She fell at home a couple years ago, had to call EMS, I couldn't pick her up. At home we know how that works, at the beach ?

Getting her in & out of the hotel & car is a lot of responsibility, I'm not very responsible, so that's some stress.

She spends most of her time in the hotel room, goes out for a ride every day to see the sights, goes out to eat occasionally (once) bitches about bugs, but claims to love the trip

It's exhausting.

I'm glad to be home.

So..having trouble typing after the @_____  Thing again... So I must type this before.  You are a good man and you are doing a good job...Being a caregiver is a full time job and very stressful.  Are you ever able to get away on your own for a few days? or with friends?  You should check into doing something like that even just a weekend can help you de-stress a bit.  I wish I could help .... hang in there....Sending you Hugs @Further

I drove my parents to Chicago for our nephew’s wedding a couple weeks ago. My dad is in a wheelchair and needs dialysis. I can relate. Mom even said she expected it to be Dad’s last big trip, but I was exhausted after. Never truly got to enjoy the wedding because of watching after him. People say I’m a good son and will treasure the time later. We’ll see...

It is really nice that you take her on trips like this.  She probably feels like a spectator more than she’ll admit, and this makes her feel more like a participant instead.  You are a gold-standard human being, Further, and I am proud to know you!
