Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted April 7, 2021 Share #9 Posted April 7, 2021 Recipe called for raisins and pine nuts. I didn't have raisins and can't find them in the grocery store. They don't put them on the fruit aisle. They don't put them on the baking goods aisle. I don't know where they are, but I had craisins and that is close enough. Pine nuts mostly come from China now. Chinese grown pine nuts have a metallic taste and I won't buy them. I substituted walnuts instead.

Pine nuts are too expensive anyway.
Airehead Posted April 7, 2021 Share #11 Posted April 7, 2021 Chinese pine nuts are awful. I sub pecans.

I think I saw them near the childrens fruit snacks & such when I was there Monday.
MickinMD ★ Posted April 9, 2021 Share #17 Posted April 9, 2021 Sore arm and headache, I had relaxed today and my headache went away around 5pm. I wondered what to make for dinner - something easy. Then I remembered I had a bag of Esskay refrigerated Creamed Chipped Beef that's been sitting in the fridge for months. I looked at the expiration date and it said Sept. 2021, so I was in business. Creamed Chipped Beef on buttered bread plus some kielbasa and sauerkraut left over from Easter.
