petitepedal ★ Posted October 8, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 8, 2017 Sweet or Tart? We made a quick stop at a orchard on our way home yesterday....ha ha ha...due to the mass quantities of rain...there were maybe 5 people in the store..last year we walked out because the line was all the way around the room... I tried several apples...I got Haralsons because I like the tart...otherwise I think I would have got the Sweet Tango I only purchased 4 apple...I had 2 more at home...next weekend I can get something else...

team scooter Posted October 8, 2017 Share #3 Posted October 8, 2017 We're taking the grandkids on the trolley to the orchard today. We'll see what kind of apples are left. http://www.easttroyrr.org/ http://www.elegantfarmer.com/
shootingstar Posted October 8, 2017 Share #4 Posted October 8, 2017 Just Golden Delicious apples. Otherwise I'm not much of a raw apple person. More a pear person..my mother used to buy a few pears and slice them for me.
Airehead Posted October 8, 2017 Share #5 Posted October 8, 2017 @petitepedal, buy more and make apple sauce to freeze. @shootingstar, I like apples but I love pears.
donkpow Posted October 8, 2017 Share #6 Posted October 8, 2017 I haven't made my fried apple dish, yet. I'm kind of holding off because it is always a contentious issue when people find out the apples aren't actually fried.

Airehead Posted October 9, 2017 Share #9 Posted October 9, 2017 Ylva brought us some very delicious Honeycrisp apples. They are huge. Also some autumn crisps which are slightly smaller. I am going to make Mr. Aire a small birthday pie with one or two.
Longjohn ★ Posted October 9, 2017 Share #10 Posted October 9, 2017 My apple trees are all red and yellow delicious. I thought I had more varieties when I planted them. The deer, rabbits, groundhogs, etc are feasting under the trees each night. I was going to take some to the neighbor’s cider press but didn’t get around to it.
