Popular Post Randomguy Posted May 30, 2020 Popular Post Share #1 Posted May 30, 2020 I took a walk to the farmers market today, and got there a little after 1:00. Unbeknownst to me, it was set to close at 2:00 (they used to stay open until 5:00 before the pandemic), it seems that nobody wants to ride the subway to get there, it has always been the biggest and best of the farmers markets in NYC. Having to close early says something. Anyway, the stands had started to either pack up or offer some really good bargains to unload what they had left. I needed lettuce, and stopped and talked to a farmer dude about the lettuce and the price being good (last year it was $4/head, today marked at three, and since they were closing soon, $2/head), and he said right now that they can't sell all they grow, so they sell what they can, give some to food banks, and feed their animals with the excess. I said I bet the pricing helps for a lot of folks now, and asked if he could fill my backpack for $5. He said "Sure, what do you want?" Yay! I thought he would counter with a higher offer, but didn't expect and an outright yes. I brought a big backpack, so now I have two huge heads of beautiful red butterhead lettuce and 5 small heads of romaine, 4 green and one red. I am eating salad every meal for the next few days, looks like! I also got a deal on farmers cheese and Fuji apples, but the lettuce was the big score. I am gonna need to make some dressing! 6 1

The pillowcase is a great idea, though!

Maybe add green onion to the dressing, would that work?

Most of the time I held my tongue. And family wasn't putting out extra for "fancy" My god we had cow tongue one night!
