Couple times a yr. doesn't hurt for the regular bacon. I've never bought the latter for home to cook. I only eat bacon at restaurants, etc. I don't find it super enjoyable..all crispy, fatty and not much else.

Kirby Posted June 12, 2020 Share #5 Posted June 12, 2020 Is this any way to try to get Wilbur back to the forum? But I say all things in moderation, although that may need to be moderated more than most other things.

Not sure if it’s a Dutch word but it sounds Dutch. Basically little chunks of pork fat fried in lard & then salted. I think my mom realized how bad it was for us so stopped making it but we had it often when I was younger. Freaking tasty but yeah basically eating pork fat fried in beef fat...

As a diabetic I try to avoid corn chips but when I get a bad hankering for chips & salsa, chicharrones & chunky salsa satisfies the cravings for me. Pick your poison I guess, high cholesterol over high blood glucose...

Dirtyhip Posted June 12, 2020 Share #12 Posted June 12, 2020 No. Not at all. It's about as healthy as a piece of cake, so not really healthy at all.
