Popular Post ChrisL Posted January 28, 2021 Popular Post Share #1 Posted January 28, 2021 I had given considerable thought on how I wanted approach this build and came to the conclusion to go with a hybrid approach. Take off all of the recent upgrades to my old cross bike which was the wheels, tires, cassette, rear der (Ultegra RX), seat post (taken off my Anthem when I put the dropper on it) and saddle. That knocked about $600 off the build kit and I’ll restore the old crosser to original & flip it. Unfortunately the white & red frame is unavailable so I went with the black. The frame on display I was drooling on last weekend! GRX is currently out of stock as well so I went Ultegra hydraulic mechanical. I also upgraded the bar to a Ritchey Venturemax. I like the shallow drop & backward sweep and the flare is not as pronounced which I don’t really need. I kept the cranks at 46/36 like my old crosser. I was told to drop off the take off parts Monday and the build should be done by late next week! $3,350 out the door minus whatever I can get for my old crosser. 5 6 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The hydraulic brakes modulate much better than cable disk brakes. I've heard an old mechanics tale that you shouldn't store bikes with hydraulic brakes upside down as air can get into the lines. Jesper reminds me of my cousin’s husband when he was younger! He speaks the same dialect of Dutch my family speaks so when he talks to his son I can totally understand him. I have watched these, I’m a subscriber. The MTB event on his channel is the same event I did, Big Bear Gran Fondo Except I didn’t do the 100K race, I did the 30K fondo.
