Ralphie ★ Posted November 14, 2015 Share #4 Posted November 14, 2015 I agree completely! Our nearly 30 year old house still has the builder's grade vinyl flooring and I prefer that to ceramic or hardwood in the kitchen! Foer one thing, you don;t have to worry nearly as much aboot dropped dishes and glasses shattering. Cheap, smooth, soft and warm, just like me.

Randomguy Posted November 14, 2015 Share #7 Posted November 14, 2015 They were warm and soft to stand on, stood up well to animals, easily cleaned. But no, we have to have ceramic or other tiles...We are way more uppity as a society now. Carpet used to be king, too, soft to walk on, nice to sit on, but nooooooo, can't have that now, it has to be hardwood flooring. Too hard to sit on, or even stand on for long, a pain in the ass to sweep, installed just to look at rather than factor in the whole livability matter.I like tile floors, though. Wood floors do look nice, too. <sigh>

team scooter Posted November 14, 2015 Share #10 Posted November 14, 2015 What goes around comes around. If I wait long enough, the flooring that came with the house will be back in style again. Besides, the vinyl flooring in our house looks like hardwood anyway.
Pokey Posted November 14, 2015 Share #11 Posted November 14, 2015 Some of the new vinyls look pretty damn good. When the time comes for new floors, vinyl will be a serious consideration.

maddmaxx ★ Posted November 14, 2015 Share #13 Posted November 14, 2015 I want vinyl planking...one of these days....I used vinyl planking with the overlapping glue strips to do a bathroom floor. When complete it's virtually waterproof.

Ralphie ★ Posted November 15, 2015 Share #21 Posted November 15, 2015 It is everything proof.Vinyl is not high heel proof! Or nick proof at all. The wearability is incredible other than that though. The only reason we really need to rep;ace ours is multiple nicks and dings. Other than that it looks brand new.

Ralphie ★ Posted November 15, 2015 Share #23 Posted November 15, 2015 Oh yeah... You 'Mericuns wear shoes in the house. Forgot aboot that! Just for parties and such. Normally, no shoes. Thankfully the high heel damage was temporary - the floor rebounded after about 10-20 years, I think. The high heel marks were from the housewarming party.
